That was whatever the polar opposite of 'throwing caution to the wind' is. Thoroughly uninspiring.

Very average yet again. We’re not good enough to get promoted. Never look like scoring. Far, far too many games where we play poorly and seldom nick wins when we do play poorly.
Saturday is an absolute must win against our bogey side. I absolutely can’t see us winning though, not without Maris and Reed.

There were a few decent performers on the pitch individually but as a team performance I wouldn’t say it was good, particularly from an attacking point of view.
Without Maris, Macca and Quinn in the side we are so abject in our build up play. Everything is rushed and hectic, and nothing is considered. We don’t build up passages of play or sustain any consistent pressure.
Finding it incredibly difficult to see us in the playoffs unless these key men become available ASAP. Games are ticking by and we dropping off.

I don’t think Grimsby had a single half decent opportunity in that 2nd half. Having said that, for all the possession Mansfield had we never truly troubled the Cods goalkeeper.

A lot of that’s on Clough. Hands in his pockets near the near the end, his body language was all wrong considering we needed to be really pushing for a winner.

There was in the other 2 games as well. We missed 5 good chances in the first half alone at Northampton and some in the second half at Stockport.

It was a point gained because Grimsby should’ve been out of sight in that first half. Shambolic from Perch at times. Akins and Kilgour did well. That’s it though!

The problem that must be worrying radford is that this is a results and entertainment business and we’ve been backed in record numbers.
In turn we’re delivering absolute dross at home, the type that doesn’t encourage the floating fan to renew in times of financial squeeze.
Still time to turn it round but this needs addressing sharpish.

No conviction in anything we do or how we play. Just turn up an knock the ball about.
Another season begging to be grabbed by the scruff of the neck, but for whatever reason we can't or don't seem to be able to see off very mediocre teams.
You've got to go there and come back, to know where you've been.

I get the disappointing, but its just pure bullshiz to state we haven't had chances

The chance creation in the last three games is not that of a team going for promotion. 1.85 combined xG across three games.
And the lack of ambition from the managers and players tonight, more so in the last 15 minutes, was clear to see. Three men back for a corner when no Grimsby player had stayed forward. Kilgour wanting to go forward for a long throw and told to stay back.

Looking from outside there seems to have been little progress considering the amount your owner has put into the club. I had money on you when Cox brought you back into the league and it's ten years on now.
You might make it up this season though it looks unlikely. If you fail again surely it will be Goodbye Mr Clough.

Set up for 0-0 draw and achieved his aim, due to an inspired couple of saves from the keeper. Thought his substitutions in the 85 th minute just about summed up the negative approach and tactics, which are nothing new. And yes, I do know we have a long injury list, but so did Northampton last week, and it didn't stop them fashioning a result. The home performances since the turn of the year, have just not been good enough.

There’s no doubt we’re missing Maris. The double pivot of Clarke and Boateng didn’t really work, both need three touches to get the ball under control. DKD looked dangerous behind the strikers but we couldn’t get the ball to him often enough.
A frustrating night. Pym played well, and I thought Kilgour had a pretty solid game. Akins played pretty well too.

I thought it was a good point in the end considering the could have been out of sight by half time.
Better 2nd half without creating a deal.
Good performance from the ref, didn't get suckered into anything.
Facts do not cease to exist because they are ignored.

Just got to accept that while we are missing the likes of Johnson, Reed, Maris, Macca, Swan etc we are not a very good side.
The midfielders available just don’t work together at all

A point gained because Grimsby could have been 6-0 up at half time. Played better in the 2nd half.
MOM was either Lucas Akins or Christy Pym.
I thought James Perch Riley Harbottle and Alfie Kilgour played well in defence. Elliott Hewitt was below his best. Jordan Bowery was not at his best in defence but did better in the 2nd half playing further forward.
Ollie Clarke worked hard in midfield but was fairly average overall. Hiram Boateng was better than at Stockport and Northampton but still only average.
DKD provided some energy and was trying to pass the ball and get things going. Rhys Oates was fairly average. I was worried he had injured himself again in the1st half.
We are missing Stephen Quinn and George Maris in midfield; and Will Swan off the bench.
We need to grind out a few wins and get the momentum back. All to play for.
