Just watched the video of the their goal back and it looked to me like it got a deflection. Theball seems to go in the wrong direction compared the the players body shape as he hit it. Spun off Maris's studs maybe?

Seeing the red card back, unless the refsent Maris off for endangering a player, the club should appeal it. That lad ain't scoring from that position.

The flight of the ball just seemed bizarre.

My view, Wallace was exceptional today, Johnson a vast improvement on Gordon.

One of our issues is we are afraid to shoot, we seemingly always need one more touch and then the chance has gone or shot is blocked.

Thought Oates worked hard today but over all he was poor.

Perch was good for an hour then tiredness crept in, one for the bench now I feel.

Next week we have selection problems unless the new recruits are superb.

Looks to me like it does move off Maris’ jump/studs

Wallace excellent today and another case of the player being in his best position. We desperately need a goal scorer. Otherwise another season in Div 2 and next season I think this could be a hard division to get out of with the teams coming up and the new investment in other teams.

Agree we need someone who can hold it up and get on the end of chances in the box… and not Danny Johnson before anyone says it

I think Pym lost his concentration and his bearings. He’s been drawn to the ball on that side of the pitch and when the shot is is struck he’s no more than a yard or so from his right hand post and then the ball goes into the middle of the goal.

Could it have been wind assisted?

A few long balls seemed to fly towards the Bishop Street stand throughout the game. A sudden strong gust could have diverted it. Live it looked to be heading to the top left corner, then ends up in the net. Looked. Either deflection of Maris or deflection off Hewitt or their lad (he didn't claim the goal so maybe not). Don't blame either boeteng or Maris for it though. Looked like Maris could have got to it but from the video it's just a touch away from him. Boeteng did well to win the ball back and was being pulled back as he tried to square it to Maris.

maybe because that’s not the rules ?

The problem being (i appreciate i didn’t make today) he still seems to think starting with 1 upfront works at home.

It doesn’t.

It’s gained us 6 out of the last 21 points at home, the 3 coming in the last minute against a thoroughly hopeless colchester side.

It doesn’t work.

Why keep playing it if doesn’t work?

I think the swerve on the ball was there because the scorer simply hit it with the outside of his foot meaning it was always going to go to the right. It’s a bit like hitting the cue ball at snooker when you need it to swerve to the side. I also think that the player meant to hit it like that and should be given credit for that. Although it may ultimately have moved away and beaten Pym, I do think he should have done better with the shot and at least made an effort to get across his goal.

Watched that at 0.25. It looked to be heading top right and then just seemed to swerve halfway towards goal.

The new centre half isn't match fit as he hasn't played for a while.

On the goal shouldn't we have had a free kick down the other end just prior to the goal for a foul on Johnson, instead of a dropped ball ?

Yes we should, but their player led with his elbow, then went down holding his head. Neither the ref or the linesman saw it and bought the lie. How the ref came to the conclusion that it was an uncontested drop ball in their favour is anyone's guess !!
