In praise of Gazza1988

Postby young vanish » Wed Sep 14, 2022 9:16 am

Just wanted to make public what, in my eyes at least, a superb job Gazza does in each match fred.
If I can't get to a match his in-running updates, analysis and comments are just perfect for me. No inane waffle, just the facts as he sees them gives a real 'feel' for the game and how things are going.
If I've been to the game, reading through his comments & reactions allows me to relive the action (or inaction).

Long may you continue Gazza, the unsung hero!

Absolutely. For those that can’t make games it’s brilliant.

Thanks chaps. I seem to have got better at it. I'm not spelling shot with an "i" anymore.

(cue Gillingham and we're back to being fruity at goal )

I think you need to read the Carlisle thread again ;)

I dare not read it now :D.

OK I've gotten a tad better at it.

I helps gauge how attacking we are too. In our run last season I couldn't keep up. So far this season I think Wimbledon and Doncaster were the only games I struggled a bit with, but only at certain times and certainly not to the degree of some of last seasons games.

He does a cracking job. I couldn't do it. I struggle to concentrate as it is what with the annoying kid behind me constantly kicking my seat and the pretty brunette sat in front.

I don't wish to burst his bubble, but I think he watches it from Cologne  Regardless the commentaries are valuable for those who can't get to games, we used to do it via the chat room but that died a death long ago.

Match chat! Not sure if that works with my phone.

I'm offended by your assertions, I watch in Frankfurt :D

I do get to Saturday home games, mad to think we've only had 2 so far this season. The next one isn't until 15th October when we host Walsall. We should have had one Saturday gone but was postponed. Hartlepool game at the end of this month was moved to the Friday.

Last match he asked if anyone at the game could confirm the team's formation, so it was clear he was watching from elsewhere.
It makes little if any difference to the value of his contribution and I'm sure he has a growing band of enthusiastic & loyal followers.

I am looking forward to his talking me through the highs & lows of Saturday's game at Gillingham.
Keep up the excellent work Gazza

Saturday home games I can get to. There's only 6 left now until the new year. We'll depending on the draw for the FA Cup. Cost of living might dictate whether I can attend those. It's a hard time out there and, as I'm sure most will agree, family first.

Just to echo all those posts above, thank you for taking the time Gazza, I really enjoy the accurate updates, I would say you could be in danger of getting a job at the Beeb on the live texts but you’re far too informative and accurate for that.

Cheers mate.

Not a problem.

I can't imagine they'd be too pleased with my mis spelling of shot :D
