Not the start we wanted

Postby Class of 02 » Sat Aug 13, 2022 4:19 pm

Even if we win the next game that would be 6 from 12 which is not promotion form. I was really hoping for better following the roll over at Wembley. Far too early to be throwing Leisure items out of the perambulator but we really, really need a couple in before the window closes. And a couple out.
Take the epic unbeaten run out of the equation and this is average fayre. Wonder what our record looks like over say, the last ten league games?

I’m actually still enjoying the football under Nigel. He just needs to get the elusive finisher in place!!!

Classic Mansfield. Once we’d missed the penalty and the first half chances I turned to my daughter and said we will lose this game 1 0. And we did. Seen it too many times before, regardless of manager or team. It’s almost like we are cursed.

We’re a class side apart from the finishing.

We need to sort that and go again.

Can’t keep being so wasteful

Yes, I did say that before the season started, but was regaled with stats proving that we're good at scoring. I'm not saying that we won't do well anyway, but I'd have liked to see a forward who scores for fun being added to the squad. Oates blows hot and cold, Hawkins likewise (when he gets to play up front) and the others are either unproven at this level or have always been weak in front of goal (Bowery, Akins, for example).
I'm not saying, that you can just magic an ace, on-form striker into the side. But at least we could try.
