JR is presumably not daft and might figure it will save money in the long run - by showing players that he’s in charge not them and also to other clubs that we aren’t going to roll over if the player kicks off.

Have we any other players or dealings with DJ's agent ? . Could it be a case of trying to negotiate with the someone like tom Naylors woman beating pal . Just wondered if the club were making a bit of a stand against an agent they don't like doing business with . No inside knowledge or nothing but it seems like every other scenario is up for discussion so i thought I would throw this in .

Yes, Callum Johnson and DKD are part of them same agency so I don’t think agents had anything to do with why the deal didn’t happen furthermore Clough praised DJs agents when he initially signed due how they dealt with the situation as it was soon after the naylor situation.

It's just two different people with two different positions of contractual strength - JR doesn't have to sell to anyone as DJ is under contract, and DJ doesn't have to sign for anyone even if JR is happy to sell. JR was happy to sell to Hartlepool (apparently) but DJ didn't want to sign, DJ was happy to go to Walsall but JR didn't want to sell (unless they paid more).
I'd imagine that DJ's position of only wanting to sign anywhere for 6 months has muddied the waters even further - who's going to stump up the kind of fee that JR would want for someone who is only willing to stay for 6 months? The length of contract DJ signs for another team isn't JR's concern, the fee is the same regardless. Unless we release him from his contract, or farm him out to the Conference then this ends when DJ's contract runs out. Sometimes there aren't solutions.

Privately you'd think that Clough would have preferred DJ gone too, he doesn't need a high profile player in the squad sitting out his contract on the edges of the team because there's the potential for it to destabilise - but he'll publicly have to do and say the right things as players wont want their mates being frozen out or treated differently, and players talk too so it might give any potential new signings in the future a bad view of what could happen if they joined if that happens.

All parties need to act positively. Accept DJ back into the fold, treat him as a senior member of the squad and if he does well in training put him in the match day squad.
If DJ has a beef, surely it will be with JR (for preventing him signing for Walsall), and on one else.

I'd rather he never play for us again...
I wouldn't trust him to try his best , not one bit....
He comes across as a sulky little spoilt jebend..
Just my opinion of course.

JR justsaid this on Facebook...
FYI Walsall did not match the bids we’d received from other clubs with terms that Danny and his agent could agree too. Danny did not want to go anywhere else so he remains a Stag.

People will only comment if he plays and scores, plays and doesn't score or doesn't play at all.
Other than that nobody will comment

Whatever happens, we shouldn’t let it derail our season or disrupt the team. If he knuckles down, fine. If not keep him as much at arms length as possible.

I was also worried about this, but then thought back to last season when we were in a pretty similar situation and it didn’t see to have any effect.
