who do we think Nigel will give the armband too ?
i’m thinking Macca will get it, due to hoping to play most games & seemed to like the responsibility those last few games, & didn’t get sent off as much as the rest of them
Our time will come

It’ll be Clarke still unless he’s sold. Think you’re right that Macca will be vice captain.

I don't think it really matters in a team with this many leaders. With JJ, Perch, Flinders, Quinn, Bowery, Macca, Aikins, etc, it's fine to let Ollie have it, even if he doesn't play as much as other captains might. I do think he'll get more of a look in this season though without Stirk there.

I think Perch or Macca as they’ll play more games than Clarke will.

I’m hoping we see a bit more of Ollie this year. He was heavily involved in our best run of form and we miss his power when he’s not playing

For me so long as there's a 'leader' in each unit (defensive/attacking) I'd be happy for any of the suggested to be given the armband. For any younger incomings such as the likely loanee's that are on their way, it'll be good to have vocal encouragement from those they're playing alongside regardless of whether they have an armband or not.

Clarke had several injury issues/niggles last season and a suspension. I would leave him as Captain. We missed him in my opinion at the business end last season, when we went for the flair option, and we got over-run at times without both him and Maris.

I’d give it JJ don’t rate Clarke at all and think NC would sell if a decent offer came in , he didn’t make the starting 11 when fit the back end of the season .

He could’ve let him go at the end of this season but chose to trigger his extension.

I think JJ is the natural option at the moment, just his commitment and way he plays the game make me say that.
Comes across as a no nonsense, natural leader.
Just what this division requires.

I'd agree if he didn't think getting the opposition player in a headlock was a good idea.

Maybe clubs do that knowing other clubs will be interested in signing him £££

I think Macca would be a good option. Passionate and level headed. MIGHT reign Quinn and JJ on a bit.... MIGHT

Neither did Maris most of the time. In hindsight that may have been an error.

He was fit, as in not injured.. but not match fit or sharp enough to be starting when others like Longstaff had build a run of games. Same with Maris.
Although I would have slotted Maris right back in as soon as I could have done.

Clarke has plenty to offer when fit. His energy and ability to get about the pitch is really useful and he has a goal in him as well.
I wouldn’t let him go personally. Maris, Boateng, Clarke, Lapslie, and Quinn are all good options and would be a top 3 set of midfielders in the league.

No way Clarke should be captain imo. Does not strike me as a leader on or off the pitch.
There was some video last year of him on like the first day back and he was hardly even greeting folk.
Macca, perch, Quinn, JJ, Hawkins should all be above him for me.

People saying no way it should be Clarke - he’d have to be stripped of his captaincy then. Unless he’s committed some gross misconduct then how is that fair. Also how will the rest of the squad feel about him losing his captaincy for no reason?
Let’s be honest it’s an honorary role and doesn’t make much of a difference in reality. We’ve got a squad that should be full of leaders anyway.
