Interestingly, the Wembley pitch is just about the same size as Vale Park, so Port Vale will be used to the size. When we got beat at their place I thought we were overrun by them a bit in the second half when we were chasing the game, and their goals were mistakes by the centre halves. However the starting line up there was:
Bishop
Perch Rawson Hawkins Macca
Clarke Stirk Wallace Lapslie
Murphy Oates

Quinn, Longstaff, Akins injured, Hewitt tired, JJ on the bench after suspension. I don’t think we’ll see any of that midfield start, and I also think NC had a bit of a sulk after just having lost at Tranmere too. Martin had Wallace as his MOM. In summary, I don’t think you can read too much into that loss, so I’ve wasted my time.

Press high up, use the space, let the ball do the work, etc

Play your best side, a pitch a few yards wider shouldn't dictate selection

vales defence didn’t look fast and at their place i’d have thought he’d have started bowery on the wing against them given the pitch.

I am nervous but more excited if I am honest, I have a lot of confidence in this team, we have plenty of experience in our squad and coaching staff. I have always said in a 1 off game this team will more then likely turn up. The selection is a real dilemma, I dont envy NC. I think he may go with:

Bishop
Hewitt Perch Hawkins Macca
O'Toole
Longstaff Quinn
Murphy
Oates Bowery.

I think we cant drop O'toole or Hawkins, Hewitt needs to play because of the Width of the pitch. I think Murphy will play due to the time and space he should get on the ball.

This team deserve success, they have showed so much character, played some brilliant football. I think Port Vale are a decent side but IF we turn up we will win. No errors like at their place please.

I think that's the side except Hewitt or Perch at right back and Maris in the middle. Interestingly NC has played Ollie Clarke in both games against Vale this season, so either a coincidence or NC feels like he needs to beef up the midfield against them.

Please Nigel don’t play Perch at RB.

Can’t call this game
2 evenly matched teams
I think it might go to Extra time and the dreaded pens and we miss out by 1 goal
We are rubbish at penalties
Hope we get over line if not as JR says we go again

A tight and nervy game but the last 15 minutes will see Oates and Bowery powering forward. 1-0 and no finger nails left and my nerves shredded! COYS

I’m pretty confident tomorrow, we’re on decent form, we defended brilliantly at northampton - cloughs the more experienced manager.

I’m tired and bored of us faltering right when it matters, let’s not have it again - let’s go and do this.

For a number of reasons and circumstance I cannot go tomorrow !!
Will hopefully get to watch on TV.....
I have probably been Nigels biggest critic all season (And before he joined us).....But as Kevin Keegan once said
"I WOULD LOVE IT, LOVE IT" if we get promoted tomorrow.
Good Luck Nigel and The Boys !!!

In London ready for tomorrow.

Whatever happens, incredibly proud of this group, been said over and over but what a rollercoaster season but we're there, where we deserve to be, competing for success.

This is just a taste of things to come and a sign of the great shape the club is in.

Just another league game that we need to win (or draw and win on penalties). I'll be treating it as such although I may take a few photos on Wembley Way.

First goal will be crucial. No room for errors or silly mistakes.

Confident . Nigel has been brilliant. Him , Andy, Seamus and Gary have been superb. The post Northampton video showed such warmth in the changing room. Nigel will get it done tomorrow

Been quietly confident during the build up but as we edge closer I feel as if we're going to concede early and never get going. That's the Mansfield fan in me, expecting disappointment.

Please let my earlier instincts be right.

Get out there, give it your best shot today lads. No regrets.

Last chance to back the ever elusive 2-0 for this season. Come on Stags, it’s not just for the win and promotion but to spend the summer looking forward to Pride Park, Hilllsborough etc and not Rodney Parade.
