The Gabbitas Gate 22/23 season.

With Officer Albanese now busy running Australia will this be left open next season.
Facts do not cease to exist because they are ignored.

Locked until 5:40 yesterday waiting for one minibus of fans to depart. Absolute joke

Including a large queue of people waiting patiently with no idea how long they would be waiting for. Ridiculous.

We all know it's going to be closed, no need to bother announcing it, they only need to announce it if it is going to be open.

Closed for ten minutes, fine. Forty minutes however isn’t.

Given that it’s a criminal offence to obstruct a public right of way I think you are right.

Especially as (if we’re to believe what the resident policeman says) it’s the club doing it then someone could be in a lot of trouble if it was reported higher up.

Dan, we’ve done this debate to death.

The safety group are obviously aware of the problem and haven’t been able to come up with a solution which wouldn’t cost the club a substantial amount of money and effort.

It would appear that the club and authorities want to let sleeping dogs lie, which as far as I am concerned is a sensible outcome.

If anyone wants to push the issue the means of doing so has been posted on here a number of times.

Of course the problem could be worse if someone suggested the stop oil group should chain themselves to the gate then we would all be done for. :D :D

Or keep away fans in the away end until home fans disperse, like every other club does.
Rather than keeping home fans locked behind a gate for forty minutes

I believe the last time we were kept behind was at the Spireites. With increased congestion on Quarry Lane after games I think the club needs to review their policy. With only 100 Newport fans it was a nonsense to keep the gate shut.

Only one minibus of Swindon fans remained, which made it even dafter.

Is it not the case that in most grounds around the country it's the away fans that are held back for a short period to allow the home fans to leave?

Completely unnecessary to close the gate yesterday, the Colchester fans were hardly a threat, quite a few in Sandy's before the game having a beer and not a sign of any trouble.

So, is it our hooligan element that are the real concern?

I think you are right, we have our own A holes to keep under control.

Absolutely the gate is closed to prevent the Mansfield fans attacking the away support.

Fantastic result tonight 5-2 win, however disappointing to see a group of 30+ trying to attack Wimbledon fans after the game many of whom appeared to be teenagers. This behaviour is not welcomed
@mansfieldtownfc
and has a detrimental impact on the club’s reputation.

Thing is that happened when the gate was shut! The youths came from over Burger King way to attack the Wimbledon fans. Also what amuses me is they shut the gate to stop Stags fans attacking away fans yet when they open it they just let away fans walk through it towards the west stand and Sandys! It doesn’t make sense. Even the stewards think it’s ridiculous.

I really don't know what they are trying to achieve.
If anyone wants a scrap with away fans they can just run around the gym carpark and onto the retail park.
