Wow there are some cretins living in the past on Facebook isn’t there?! This is what I replied to a bloke who asked why this group is necessary.

Why is anything necessary? There’s loads of reasons groups like this are necessary. I contacted the club a while back about setting one of these up because I know the guys who do it from Notts and Forest and they get lots of good publicity from it and I felt like we were the odd one out not having one. I’m glad someone has done it and I’m glad it’s been done by someone who understands the impact negative people have on gay, lesbian, bisexual etc people because I’m none of those. It’s why clubs have rainbow laces and flag days, to try and get it out there that whatever your choices are in the world we’re all in it as one. But when you’re at a match and you hear chants like “Chelsea rent boy” and things like that it’s not right or ok and needs stamping out of the game. Hence the need for groups like this to raise awareness. Same as Kick It Out. Chanting racial abuse is not ok and again that’s why these groups are out there. Why do you think footballers don’t come out as gay? That’s why these groups exist, to make people more aware of their actions and what can be done to improve the enjoyment of watching a live match for EVERYONE. Also some people really struggle with their sexuality and it can lead to depression or even suicide. If they know that there are other people out there who are the “same” as them they can confide in them too. So who knows, a group like this could actually save a life.

Yes, meant from the fans group. It is sad if it has been removed as Terry dealt so well with the range of comments from those saddened by what they saw a false division of fans through to the clearly abusive. I thought Terry's responses were so well constructed

An excellent initiative. Inclusivity is the key to sustainability in anything, and especially so for lower league football clubs like us. Well done to the founder and I hope it thrives.

All the anti vaxxers showed up as well on the lost on the official FB page where they said you could get your jabs before the game. We do have some stupid supporters but most clubs will.

people should be free to make their own decisions and do what they like without fear of abuse or hindrance.

Its a shame that supporters of a certain sexual orientation feel that they cant come to the football. If you went to watch Mansfield and two men or women were holding hands in the crowd, would that make a difference to anybody?

Good on the creators of the group and the club for supporting it. No one should feel maligned or excluded from supporting MTFC.

When you get complete imbeciles being banned from the club for racist chanting only a couple of months ago I think it shows we are a long way away from being perfect.
Although things have improved since I was a kid in the 80's when I heard fans racially abusing our own players for a mis-placed pass.

Anti vaxxers? ??? Cheap shot identifying genuine people who have their own personal views about a policy linked with suppression of information with an obnoxious message made against a legitimate group. I'm sick of that term bandied so freely.
