Stoke City latest on Will Forrester

This doesn't sound too promising to me as far as Forrester coming back is concerned.

I think it is fair to say the writing is on the wall.

Look elsewhere Nigel, can't afford to repeat what happened last window.

Forrester was starting to hit some form before his second injury blow, but we've seen that little of him this doesn't feel a massive blow, if we could get a fit inform player for the next 5 months then yes but that's not what we've had so far. But good luck to him wherever he goes I'm sure he will prove to be a good player.

His injury record is poor
Leave well alone
Let Stoke pay him and keep him

He played 67 minutes before being subbed, got booked after 56. They lost 1-0 at home to Fulham U23s. Stoke U23's coached by Kevin 'Rooster' Russell, Fulham by Steve Wigley.

I spoke to one of the Directors before the Doncaster away game in the cup who said that, paraphrasing, “Forrester is going back to Stoke in January irrespective of what we want”. And this, tied into O’Toole signing coupled with Perch returning means he is not needed. Which Clough alluded to in previous interviews when he said that things have a knock on effect etc.

In short, as good as he may turn out to be we have seen brief glimpses of his potential. I wish him all the best and would like to see a fit Forrester play for us for a period.

However, this like Narty (honest gaffer I am fit to play) may have been a wasted loan signing.

I’ll take his goal and performance at Donny as not being wasted.

He enjoyed that day as much as us, listen again to his interview after the game.

Has just been unlucky that is all, good luck to the lad.

Nigel Clough told iFollow Stags, 25 Jan 2022:
On Will Forrester: "Well you never know in the last day or two of the window. But at the moment it's a `no` from Stoke. But a lot can happen in the next few days."

Totally agree, I suspect Stoke want to keep him because he is close to their 1st team squad. I saw enough at Donny to tell me he is real quality.

One swallow does not a summer make. I appreciate how well he played for us, especially at Donny you could see how much his return to playing meant to him and us. A young player from team in a league above us is always a welcome addition. Whiteman was a great example, Tyler Walker another and my all time favourite loanee a certain Kevin Hitchcock. A player to see go on to bigger and better things is always a joy to behold. However, I compare his impact as a loan signing to that of the others and ultimately he has not been as good as Stirk or Bishop. Taking those two being this seasons yardstick, ultimately his loan spell was not successful.

Stoke are two leagues above us. It is a shame injury ruined his loan spell but he is definitely a very good player, that's why Cloughie is so keen to sign him.

What could he have done more as his four starts for us all finished in victories.

Just going through their squad he looks like he'd be fighting for 4th/5th choice CB currently.

Wilmot, Chester, Östigard (loan from Brighton), Jagielka, Harwood-Bellis (loan from City)

I wouldn't be surprised if there weren't L1 teams sniffing around a loan deal.
