Absolutely brilliant news. Felt this would happen. Onwards.

He has been a integral part of the squad and even the Mansfield Matters Podcast sunday sermon put back 24 hrs.
Good news and a bit of security for JJ

Top 3, that’s got to be our aim now.

Top three should not be our aim, one game at a time.

If we finish in the play offs that will be good enough for me, given the start to the season we had a lot on here had written us off for a relegation dog fight.

One game at a time, let's not get ahead of ourselves.

We've got so many more away games than home games to play. Let's see where we are in March as this will balance it out a bit.

Presume we didn't want to give him two and a half years but his performances have been that good his agent has been able to drum up interest from other clubs forcing us to up the deal to get his signature. In the end the quality of his performances has earnt him a cracking contract for a 33 year old. If he'd of been average and we let him go in January and he ended up in non league that would of been down to him. Good luck to him, he's earnt it.

Get the raspberry in! Chuffed to bits with confirmation of this news.

I realistically don't think we could have made a better signing this transfer window.

Onwards and upwards.

It would have been a massive blow to have lost him and given our momentum i think those upstairs knew that it would have sent out the wrong message (though appreciate it’s not that simple)

It’s really a positive step and well done.

I really pleased we’ve signed him. He has been fantastic since he came in and thoroughly deserves his new deal.

I can’t help but think 2.5 years is a long time for any league 2 player, never mind a 33 year old. It was interesting Thats Clough made a point of saying the deal was ‘up to 2.5 years’ which indicates there might be a clause or an option to part ways earlier than that.

It’s also good news that Clough pointed out that the deal was not financially driven, which gives me a lot of confidence in JJ’s commitment to do well with us.

Well done to the club and JJ for coming to an agreement

Wow what a relief  a proper log it was too. Thanks JJ for signing when you did... just in time.

Do you keep a sharp stick propped up at the side of the cistern for just such occasions?
... and to help the poo flush away as well.

Nobody's perfect and anyone can have an off game or two, we should allow for that.
Although I know that will be a big ask for some on this forum.

Considering his performances over the past couple of weeks, when he likely had a deal on the table from Donny, I'd say his professionalism can't be questioned.

Any dip in form will likely be due to fatigue (a lot of players haven't had a break for a few months) or other circumstances.

This is very true, I just remember Junior Brown when he was on loan for us. Looked quite good up until he got a contract here and then just seemed to not give a raspberries or try as hard as he was before but like I say O'Toole doesn't seem like he has that kind of attitude.

You know in a couple of weeks there'll be a new thread moaning why we've signed O'Toole or gave him such a long deal after 25 pages of posts begging him to stay!
