Not in Cloughs league at all. Blew promotion with one of the most talented teams we’ve ever had!

Bugger!! I've just had a fiver with Martin that Rochdale will win more points than Hartlepool in the remaining 13 games. Hartlepool were very poor on Tuesday night.

Technically he is in Clough's league. Or was.

But you love "Curley" Darren, you even named yourself after him

I'll be amazed if he gets another job, I've always been amazed every time someone has appointed him, I mean his record of taking clubs into the Conference (or managing them just before they sink to the abyss) is quite extraordinary!

It’s been said a million times but just look at the squad Curle had 2003/04, finishing 5th was criminal.

Kevin Pilkington

Rhys Day, Bobby Hassell, Tony Vaughan, Dave Artell, Luke Dimech, Alex Baptiste, Jamie Clarke, Jake Buxton, Adam Eaton

Liam Lawrence, Wayne Corden, Tom Curtis, Lee Williamson, Neil MacKenzie, Craig Disley

Junior Mendes, Iyseden Christie, Colin Larkin, Chris Beardsley

Kevin Pilkington (L1)

Rhys Day (L2), Bobby Hassell (CH), Tony Vaughan (L1), Dave Artell (L2), Luke Dimech (L2), Alex Baptiste (PL), Jamie Clarke (L2), Jake Buxton (CH), Adam Eaton

Liam Lawrence (PL), Wayne Corden (L1), Tom Curtis (L2), Lee Williamson (PL), Neil MacKenzie (L1), Craig Disley (L1)

Junior Mendes (L1), Iyseden Christie (L2), Colin Larkin (L1), Chris Beardsley (L1)

Almost every player went on to play at a higher level, some considerably so. I don’t think we’ll ever see a crop of players that good through the academy ever again.

Curles team should have beat Huddersfield, the linesman beat us . Curle did get Northampton promoted 2 or 3 years back though.

People have their own opinions but mine is Curle wasn't so bad but the way he was removed from MTFC was deplorable, a blot on the clubs history.

I've always respected Keith Curle because he saw through Hasloan's pack of lies and Meale's sham of an appeal, sued the club for wrongful dismissal and won around £80,000 in damages.

I wanted my user name to be the full Keith Curle quote of "You don't get anywhere playing Tippy Tappy Car Park Football" or "Tippy Tappy Car Park Football" but it was too long

Keith Curle has been a bit unlucky with missing play offs and losing play offs as a manager losing the League 2 play off final with Mansfield on penalties after we scored a good late winner, missing out on the League 1 play offs with Notts County on goal difference (ouch!! ) and losing in the League 2 play off semi-finals with Carlisle United. He therefore deserved his League 2 play off final win with Northampton.

Who did play left back that season? Looking through the teamsheets did Rhys Day, Luke Dimech, Jamie Clarke, Jake Buxton, Tony Vaughan and Adam Eaton all play left back at some stage?

I can't remember Rhys at left back but I'm sure the others did, Eaton was excellent but blighted by injury. It was probably our strongest squad since the 70's, it was quite an effort from Curle not to finish top 3!

It was the Haslam era, all our squads were small, the list does not include reserve keepers and misses out players who also featured, such as D'Jaffo. It was also 5 subs and I seem to recall we had very few long term injuries. You can't properly compare managers under JR, who have been given incredible support, with those under Haslam, who weren't. Cloughs small squad is by choice, that's what some of us criticise him for, though it also must be said our current injury list is a very long one.

When fit Eaton was the best left back I have seen in a Stags shirt. Quality footballer.
