Believe it was Richard Hughes who was instrumental, he is now at Pompey and has just appointed John Mousinho. In fairness, he did get things very right with Rob Edwards.

Back to snow shuffling for him then, was only a matter of time.He must feed his interviewers a right line of hogwash prior to his appointments.

I think he’s quite a highly rated coach. To be fair to him, he took over a team that had lost their three key players from their promotion campaign. He was on a bit of a hiding to nothing.

Had the pleasure of speaking to Simon Coleman a few times over a couple of pints, he told me about marking Ferguson whilst at Bolton and getting elbowed straight in the nose in the first five minutes, says he was seeing stars for the next 20 mins. Apparently Ferguson is a pigeon fancier and got team mates to go round and feed em when he was on holiday lol

It looks like Scunthorpe have gone for a Paul Cox style appointment as manager although I imagine Jimmy Dean will have most of his non-league contacts in the Peterborough area.

"Scunthorpe United is delighted to confirm our new management team, as Jimmy Dean joins as the club's new First Team Manager, Chris Plummer arrives as Assistant Manager and Michael Nelson remains with the Iron as Head Coach.

Dean, 40, joins following a hugely successful spell at National League North side Peterborough Sports, where he enjoyed four promotions in five completed seasons. He steered them to three titles and 11 trophies in total since becoming manager in 2015, and has been widely acclaimed for his excellent work there, being hailed as one of the best bosses in non-league.

Plummer, 46, was his assistant at Peterborough Sports and will join Dean at Glanford Park. A former England Under-21 international, his playing days saw a lengthy spell at QPR, as well as permanent stints at Barnet and Peterborough United. During his coaching career, he's managed Peterborough Northern Star, Corby Town and Peterborough Sports, in addition to being part of the England Under-21s set-up.

Nelson, 42, was interim first team manager at the Iron from late November and previously assisted Tony Daws for three months. He enjoyed a long playing career, including a year's spell at United from 2011, and has previously managed Blyth Spartans, as well as being assistant boss at Hartlepool United."

Not a sacking but it looks like Matt Bloomfield is set to leave Colchester already to take up the Wycombe job.

Colchester fans not happy at all after giving him his first chance in management and backing him in the window.

They play Northampton at home on Saturday, followed by Bradford and Stockport, so we could do with them picking up a few results.

Replacing Gareth Ainsworth with him would be a very bold move, given they're just about in the play-offs and have won their last 5. Edit: didnt see he was going to QPR

Nigel Clough moved up to 9th out of 72 EFL longest serving managers with Wycombe changing managers.

Six EPL mangers longer than Nige, so 15th out of 92.
