Derby County Appoint Administrators

That's Derby County definitely in League 1 next season after the points deduction.

The Stags need to get promoted this season and we could be in the same division as Derby and Forest.

Does that mean that if they don’t pay players they can be treated like free agents and sign for other clubs?. What are their reserve centre halves like?

One of the reasons they are so much in the raspberries is the ridiculous wages they handed out like confetti.

Keogh went from 4k a week under Clough to 23k a week under McLaren/Clement.

A joke of an ownership. All the hard work of getting them back on an even keel undone by a bloke who thought he knew more about football than the football people.

Not surprised or disappointed by this at all.

Mel has been a disaster for them. Year on year the problems got worse and unless they went up to the prem and were sold, which was his plan this was always inevitable.

Salaries went from 16 million in 2014 to 50 million in 2019.

Shows how good they had it under our Nigel. On the verge of the premier League, not in debt and players in sensible money.

That's silly money Craig but isn't the average Championship salary around £30,000 per week?

Derby County were one win away from claiming the £100 million per season from the Premier League plus £70 million plus parachute payments. They gambled the lot on making it to the Premier League and just fell short.

Sensible mover from the potential buyers though. Why buy them at full whack when you can let them go into ad in and get for a much better price, harsh but sound from a business perspective

Depends how long it takes to get back in the championship if relegated.

I don’t know why you’d buy the club in its current state so sadly it needed admin, must have a crazy amount of debt and likely to be in a relegation battle before any deduction. Now it looks like it needs snookers to remain a championship club. The running of the club looks to be shambolic, hopefully they can investigate and maybe block Morris from owning a club again.

Question what this does for Rooney’s long-term career prospects as well? It’s a difficult situation but certainly a baptism of fire into management.

I thought with McClaren being appointed and Rush in charge thing would go down hill eventually, With Mel Morris being a multi millionaire he got sold a investors dream.
Buy the club invest £30 million and join the promise land, Premier league football , They sold it to the fans, players from around the world, coaches in every country bringing the best players to Derby. They brought the local forum in for a break fast at the hospitality suit, where Morris And Rush sold their plan.
Swapping a Manager for a Head Coach was part of the plan, but Clough would not relinquish control, so had to go. bringing in a brilliant coach like McClaren nearly worked,
But they lost in the playoff final, With the infrastructure of the club being sound,, they improved the Academy to grade 1, stopping the big clubs getting players on the cheap.
Every thing was in place to move forward, But here lies the slippery slope, The owner and C_E_O made decisions and Head Coaches come and go.
money can buy a lot , but footballers are human with fraities, and it can be difficult telling a millionaire what he can or cant do,
When players have been at a club longer than the Manager, [Head Coach ] They can just sit on there contract and wait until he gets fired.
i feel for the fans, i know a lot of them, They blame the E-F-L they dont like Derby, But of coarse Morris gets some stick.
Any way i have my own worries, Perch out for the season and Clough has got problems, getting us back on track

Whilst sorting out the mess at Derby could the government sort out out the governance of football for all the pyramid downwards, Prem to Central Midlands, which is a massive factor in this.

Wycombe fans may feel vindicated now though how they deal with the Incompetence at the EFL after is another question.
