61 mins Colchester 1-3 Sutton
Another howler from Shamal George, let's a soft header through him. Two howlers from the keeper to cost two goals and a red card.
At the other end a minute earlier, terrible backpass from Alistair Smith but Sears misses a one-on-one

It's a poor league this season, very little quality.

I see Max Watters scored tonight for MK, don't know if he's getting the starts but not on the radar at the moment.

FT Colchester 1-3 Sutton
Colchester gifted the game to Sutton as the game hinged on two howlers from keeper Shamal George to cost two goals and a red card. He was brilliant against us!
Colchester weren't very good. Sears did miss a one-on-one though, and would have had another if he hadn't been brought down on the edge of the area (for which there was only a yellow card, technically correct from the ref, but not much justice). Also Colchester hit the post late on.
Alistair Smith had a good game, but made one terrible error when his backpass put Sears in one-on-one.
Colchester remain three points ahead of us. Sutton up to 6th.

I see those from across the border won again. More interestingly their forward Kabongo Tshimanga scored again. He’s been on fire this season. I don’t know anything about him but I’d quite like the idea of nicking their star striker, I suspect he’s probably attracting the interest of clubs from League One though because if his Wiki page is correct he’s been pretty prolific for 3 or 4 seasons now.

Terrible back pass by Alistair Smith in 2nd half and lucky to avoid a yellow card for constant fouling. Freddie Sears scored from one of the free kicks but ruled offside. I was surprised he was not subbed. I still think his future is as a centre half or playing in a back three.

They paid £250,000 for him and are paying him £6,000 a week

It makes Walkers wage seem like a bargain, the furlough scheme and the lump sum really helped some clubs.

Debt building, can't be good with little revenue streams.

I know when they got Allen out the king term goal was finding a new owner because they didn't have a penny to spend.

Good turn out by Sutton tonight

273 Sutton fans in an attendance of 3,013 at Colchester

Actually more than the Stags took in August when we were very near top of the table.

About the same distance as us going to Rochdale.

FT: Colchester United 1 Sutton United 3
A great start by Col U when Charlie Daniels crossed from the left to Freddie Sears who turned, shot and scored. Sutton then equalised when Rob Milsom crossed from the left for David Ajiboye to knock it in at the far post. Ajiboye has been Sutton's stand out player for me this season. The game then changed when Samson Tovide missed a glorious chance for Col U to retake the lead. Shamal George then made a mess of handling a Enzio Boldewijn corner and Samson Tovide had to use his hand to stop the ball going in. He was given a red card and Rob Milsom scored the penalty. HT: 1-2

Ben Goodliffe was lucky to escape a red card and a penalty for bringing down Freddie Sears. The ref deemed it to be a foul just outside the area and only gave a yellow. A terrible back pass by Alistair Smith then put Freddie Sears straight in on goal but Coby Rowe got back to make a great block. Sutton then made it 3-1 when Rob Milsom's free kick was headed in by Ben Goodliffe. Shamal George should have saved it. Alistair Smith kept barging into Col U players outside the area and giving away free kicks. He did this at least three times and should have been given a yellow card. I was surprised he was not subbed. I still think his future is as a centre half or playing in a back three. Freddie Sears scored from a rebound from a Charlie Daniels free kick given away by Smith but was ruled offside. Tommy Smith also hit the post with a header from another free kick.

Sutton United move up to 6th. Col U drop to 19th. Sutton MOM was Rob Milsom and David Ajiboye. Noah Chilvers and Freddie Sears played well for Col U.

Madness mate I couldn’t believe it when I got told but the people who told me will know it’s true. They insured themselves over Covid and have maxed out their claims meaning they’ve had a huge windfall so can afford to do it.
