The only thing I would say is the pre-season with Flitcroft's team was a wow, team playing well, getitng good results and they carried that into the season - just saying.

Yeah and look how that ended ;)

My worry is that we will pick up injuries due to the players being tired. Not a good way to start the season but then Nigel knows what he’s doing.

Yep, fantastic entertainment and highest league position in 17 years  Let's hope NC does as well, I think we'd all take that.

It's far, far to early to judge, its two and a half weeks until our first game.

Starting the season on fire never ends well.... who has won it or been promoted when they were top after 10 games? Not many... Doing a Bolton last season or a stags in 2012/13 will do.

Slow start good finish.

I'd rather get the points on the board early. It then gives you a chance to have a bad spell later on and drop points but still be in contention. If DF had started the season better and won another couple of games then we would easily have been promoted.

Paul Cox style 22 wins out of the last 25 league games don't happen very often!

Dont get Dan on about flipping Flitcroft again., when the players let him and us down big style. As Vic and Bob said, you would not let it die.

Keep losing and conceding against inferior opposition to a fan is frustrating, when to play badly in any game you hope for a draw, But when the manager is happy, i am happy.
Covid still interrupting our game and it could be a few games into the season before some players are match fit, so i would understand why fitness levels are key
This game was never about competition but a training exercise behind closed doors, The Leeds manager got fined for spying.
More important who are we waiting for, will we be pleased or disappointed

Great statting.

That tells me that a strong start = a strong finish.

A good start relies on a good preseason.

Great stats Sam.

So you need to aim to be in top 3/4 after 10 games to be champions, in the top 6 for automatic promotion and top 10/11 to have a chance of winning the play offs.

A good start to the season is very important.

Interestingly the Stags were 14th after playing their 10th game under DF in 2018-2019. A better start would have won us promotion. That's where we lost it as well as the usual poor DF finish to the season in the last 12 games.

I think when he was at Derby he used to take them to Repton School.

Clough he definitely mentioned swimming, so this Savage story is likely what the players will encounter.

Yeah truly great stats that no one ever thought of before. I mean before statos came along who’d ever heard of the saying “let’s see where we are after 10 games, that’s when the table begins to take shape.” Well except everyone.

Giant leap forward for the game due to the statos again, how on earth did football make it 150 years without them.

Irrespective of stats, stats, glorious stats a win against Bristol Rovers would give the team, the fans and the town in general a lift. To be able to walk back into town with a win under the belt, daft dreams of going a whole season undefeated and heading for a pint to celebrate is what I would take right now.

As for are we promotion contenders and are we headed in the right direction, let’s see when the first round of the FA cup is played. As good an indication as any as to how we ill finish the season.

“let’s see where we are after 10 games, that’s when the table begins to take shape” is a bit different from looking at historical trends to help understand how the early games in the season impact the final league standings.

If there is something we can do to improve our chances of promotion, we should do it. A good start to the season seems to elevate a teams success rate.

So it's important to win our first game and be up there at 10 games. If we are near top after 10 games, we're in with a good chance, if we're not, history tells us we're unlikely to compete.
You've got to go there and come back, to know where you've been.
