John Radford interview on Mansfield 103.2

Postby Martin Shaw » Tue Jun 22, 2021 4:47 pm

John Radford was interviewed on Mansfield 103.2 at 5.40 today.

There wasn't any breaking news as such but I'll transcribe one or two bits when I get a moment.

Still in love with MTFC no chance of losing interest
When schools break up if travel restrictions allow he will be back here to watch friendly games
Believes with the people around him at club that this year could be special
Thanked Season ticket holders for their support

I wonder where t'club'd be now without Johnny riding in on his charger and saving us all those years ago.
Doesn't bear thinking about, does it eh?
Theirs not to reason why
Theirs but to do and die

as promised:

John Radford spoke to Mansfield 103.2 by phone from Portugal on 22 June 2021:

"I'm out taking Bella (the dog) for a walk at the moment. Life's good and we seem to be getting the right team together.

"Nigel has a solid head on his shoulders, he's helping take the club in the right direction.

"... along with myself, Carolyn, David, the rest of the directors, and the fans, we're all doing our best to take this club to League One and beyond.

"I think the quality of the manager we've got on board makes a big difference. And the fact we're now starting to see talent come through from our academy. It seems to all be in place. This year is better than the year before, so as long as I can keep saying that every year, I seem to have got the right people in place.

"Nigel will get a lot of support, and from our fans, because we all love him. He's a great character.

"I've been like everyone, I've been watching it on iFollow each week. When we went through that bad spell and lost quite a few on the trot, it's annoying, because I'm shouting at the TV.

"I'm looking forward to it all opening up again and get this Covid situation out the way because that's just awful for everyone. I've had my first vaccine now so brilliant.

"Let's hope we can have 100% capacity and we are open again as soon as it's safe to do so.

"My message to our fans is come and support the club, put your full heart into it. A big thank you to all our season ticket holders that were with us last year and a big thank to all our supporters for all your support.

"I'm looking forward to seeing you all again as soon as possible.

"We're hoping to get back ... the kids finish school at the end of June ... in the 1st or 2nd week of July. The 13th is one of our pre-season friendlies so hope we can get back for that. But you never know.

"All the best to everyone back in Mansfield, I hope to see you all soon and thank you once again for all your support."
