Are we going to play 4-4-2 if so whose the midfield 4 going to be, can't quite work out how he fits in.
It's not a criticism, just can't figure it out myself.

Probably the same first choice midfield that is was when we played that formation towards the end of last season.

Maris, Quinn, Clarke, Lapslie

Agreed...Diamond formation with Maris sitting in front of back 4 and Lapslie in behind strikers, but only if we go 442

At different league levels tho mate. You'll be telling me that orange fruit with a rough skin is a golden delicious next ;)

Let's wait and see what he brings, other than a cheap option to get the balls down from Bishop St stand roof :P

Cook has a much better record than Hawkins at L1 level.

It’s nice to make signings where we have a need fir them and they fit into a plan.

Exciting stuff

At Reids age he should not need nurturing anymore, he's either got it now or will never have it.

Reid just does not have what it takes, he is a good Conference standard striker and that's where he should be playing.

Cook does have a better goal ratio - but maybe Hawkins will link up play better and provide a lot of assists for other players. I imagine that is part of Nigel's thinking.

Cook never interested big clubs like Portsmouth or Ipswich at the top end of League 1, and is not the all round player Hawkins is.
To compare the two is like chalk and cheese.
If Hawkins can get a injury free run at Mansfield he will be a revelation, not by scoring goals but making space and opportunity for others, and will add a defensive presence at dead ball
situations.
