Are there any others?

Andy White, but 5 foot 2 when he jumped

Andy White is 6 foot 4 .....so close.

Alan Waddle was a big lad, but it was mostly hair.

I thought about Alan Waddle Rob. One of Stuart Boam's signings in 1982. 4 goals in 14 league starts. Scored against Blackpool in a 2-1 win in the first game of the 1982-1983 season.

Wikipedia does not give his height. Jack Retter's Who's Who book says he was 6 foot 3.

Have no fear if he doesn’t score five in pre season i’ll be on him
welcome to the Mill Ollie lad, let’s see what ya got !!!

Portsmouth fans all have very good things to say about him on Twitter - I’d take more stock in their opinions seen as though he played a lot more games for Pompey than he did for Ipswich.

No one seemingly had a sniff of this. Tells me a couple of things, firstly that the club’s OPSEC is excellent and secondly that some of the sages on here are talking out of their chocolate autobahns.

Ollie Palmer is 6 foot 5. Same height as Mark Sale.

Matt Rhead is 6 foot 4

These signings so far have been a breath of fresh air. No rumour mills going around for weeks linking big name Charlie's with us. and the current lads signed don't seem like mercenaries like we've had in the past, can't wait to see what this team can do!

Crucial point you made there bobbystagsfan, no longer are we signing mercenaries and big time Charlies, fast lot of good they did us. NC certainly seems a much shrewder operator.

It’s all about perception really. If Evans was manager and had signed Johnson and Hawkins they would be seen as massive signings, a fee paid to a L1 club and one of the top scorers in L2. Evans would have watched them in some game or an other where they were the best player on the pitch, we would have beaten countless clubs to his signature etc.

Because Cloughy in understated they are classed as solid rather than spectacular signings

Does anyone know how many games he roughly plays centre half and up front?

His league stats are around 115 games and 16 goals but maybe he was playing centre half for a lot of those games.

We have signed Quinn and Ward keeping our midfield together, and we knew our problems were in both boxes, up front we have signed 2 new strikers, and we know 2 new goalkeepers are coming, and Hewitt, plus Menayese are available for central defenders, though i think more players might come in, it looks like we have took a big step forward in addressing our problems
already we have choices all over the squad, i still think some more quality is coming but perhaps will have to be patient, ,
In the meantime a big welcome Oli Hawkins

From that interview it sounds as though he has only played their in an emergency, So I would assume not many.

Transfermarkt says 16 apps as a defender.

His goals per min in the EFL is 1 every 381.

For context our other strikers EFL records -

Johnson - 56apps 19 goals, 1 every 216mins
Bowery - 329apps 57 goals, 1 every 329mins
Reid - 61apps 9 goals, 1 every 418mins

We have a really solid mix of players up front now I think. Hopefully the pressure will be off Reid and we can get the best out of him and nurture him a little more

It’s nice to make signings where we have a need fir them and they fit into a plan.

Exciting stuff

Yes that’s true. A lot of Bowery’s apps were at a higher level too.

But this is where stats aren't black and white. When he played at Pompey he scored 9 and 10 goals a season, but he did a lot of the work that allowed Pitman and Marquis to score circa 25 goals a season. So to judge him on goals alone seems unfair. Maybe look at how many goals were scored in games he played in.

Unfortunately I can see a lot of people getting on his back, like they do with Bowery, because he doesn't score a goal a game. I expect 10 goals a season from him, but we should create more chances when he plays. So up to others to convert too.

Feels like a Bowery type of player with a bit more height, a team player and if lapslie and clarke can get in and around him then I can see as many assists as goals.

What I always saw with Clough’s Burton side that the team output was greater than the individuals, it feels like he fits that mould.

Quite a few on Twitter have been saying that he is great at holding the ball up, which is something we lacked last season. How often was it swiftly returned at us last season.

Another round peg for a round hole, hopefully, from Nigel and Dave.
