We need to put a set of lyrics to one verse - add the chorus - and hey ho a new song .

Nice to see Quinn giving it another season, managed well brings a lot of character to the squad and vast experience in a long season.

Not one negative comment, think that speaks volumes for his quality.

Pleased he's joined. Felt he started very slowly (as a lot of players do) but then became one of the first names on the teamsheet.

That's about as negative as I can get on it Musings ;)

Really pleasing to get this deal done. Having a fully fit midfield really excites me.

There is a 6 minute interview with Nigel Clough about the signing of Stephen Quinn for iFollow subscribers.

The interview seems to be cut before it’s natural end, which makes me thing there may be further news to come.

it's well worth listening to. I've transcribed a small part of it:

Nigel Clough told iFollow Stags:
"We didn't really know him when he came to Burton because he'd retired. He was on holiday, a couple of years ago, and he'd decided to retire. While he was out there (holiday), he thought I might give it one more go.
"Chris Morgan, who's his mate who we worked with at Sheffield United, phoned and said `little Quinny says can he come and do some training with you`?
"He joined in for a week or two and within a few days we said do you want to sign for us if your knee is up to it?
"We have to keep an eye on that (knee) and manage his injuries.
"But right from day one, that hunger and desire is still there in abundance.
"Even if he's out there for 70 minutes, and he did a lot of 70 minutes last season, he can make a lot of impact in that time."

(On the midfield) "I hope they all stay fit and they play well. Ollie Clarke had injuries last season, Lapslie was injured, and Quinny won't play 50 games for us.
"So we need to make sure the lads coming in for them as well are good enough and that's where the strength of the squad is (important) ... It won't be a massive squad, 16/17/18 nucleus and I think we'll be covered well enough provided we don't get 5 or 6 injuries or 2 or 3 in one position, that's the only time it can cause a problem."

A little and i mean a little concerned about a small squad, im sure monies are available for a bigger squad.
It's probably being used to every other manager buying everyone they can.

Clough keeps saying the squad will be small, I think he just means with senior pros, as we already have 23 players on pro contracts, and that’s not including Stech, Menayese, O’Driscoll or O’Keeffe.

I've transcribed part of the Quinn interview for the Stagsnet news archive in the absence of any other news outlet doing it.

Stephen Quinn told iFollow Stags:
"I’ve had a great few months here on loan. The lads have taken to me really well and I’m so pleased to be signing permanently now.
"It was a straightforward decision to sign permanently, no question. The football we played over the last few months has been enjoyable.
"We’re a good footballing side and we have to take that into next season and produce over the course of a whole campaign.”
"Ollie (Clarke) and George (Lapslie) should be playing at a higher level. Ollie's very industrious, he's a strong boy. George has got real guile and a nice passer of the ball.
"The gaffer simplifies the game, he doesn't try to overcomplicate it. He lets the lads go out and express themselves and enjoy themselves. The football and style of play he likes to play is really good and refreshing for this league.
"Hopefully we can do something special this season.
"Now I'm coming to the latter part of my career, I'm enjoying it even more and I'm appreciating every kick of the ball. I don't really want to let it go and I can't wait to get started next season."
