For me we need better than that, many better LB in L2.

We will still need more cover than just McLaughlin. FWIW I don't think he's a bad player and good full backs who are good at both attacking and defending are hard to come by at this level.

Hopefully we will get McMann. Who would you sign Conker?

Surely he was 6ft 2? That's what we sang anyway :D

I’ve even got a t-shirt that says he was 6ft 2. :D

Nigel Clough has already said that Stephen McLaughlin will play left back. He talked about him linking up with Stephen Quinn. We need a back up for him though. We've not seen enough of Jayden Charles to see if he's good enough and it would be a big ask of him. Jason Law might be able to do a job there but again he is untried.

If I were James Clarke and Kellan Gordon then I would be practising playing left back as well as right back because it might give them a chance to play if McLaughlin gets injured. They are probably too right footed though.

We certainly need a left sided centre half like Rhys Bennett or Blackburn's Scott Wharton who won promotion from League 2 with Lincoln City and Northampton Town.

We might need a back up for George Maris at the base of the diamond but I suppose Stephen Quinn, Ollie Clarke or even Elliott Hewitt could drop in there.

I don’t think he’s a bad player either, definitely much better about in LB, I think it’s very important we sign somebody who’s main and natural position is LB and McMann fits that bill.

Not at going forward there isn't. In The modern game fullbacks are both attack and defence. The holding midfielders should cover them as they bomb on down the wing. If we get that right, he's a great full back.
You've got to go there and come back, to know where you've been.

Clough could go with Charles he puts a lot of trust in the young players, and we have England internationals at 21 if you are good enough your old enough.
playing youth makes the budget fit,

Disagree, think there’s quite a few better going forward in full back. I’m not saying we can’t be successful with him in the team in that position, just that we can definitely do much better. He’s more of a midfielder anyway.

As for the subject at hand, I'd say the chances of Lucas leaving unless a substantial fee is involved are very slim, which for a 32 year old is obviously risky business.

Also, he's not a striker, I don't know who has been passing this false information on, but he's rarely ever played there other than in emergencies and has covered at right back more than up front. We will be going into next season with 2 proper strikers battling for the lone role which will be for the first time in a long time, Moult's arrival won't affect Lucas whatsoever.

He's an out and out hard working right winger, who for a short time last season covered on the left.

I'm surprised NC hasn't tried to get Kieran Wallace in from us who is still recovering from an ACL injury and out of contract, he's very much a Nigel type player, and he's always had a weird liking for signing players who've had bad knee injuries.

Here is a chance for a second post in your career, information about the Brewers is out their for all to see, and Akins in his last two moves involved a transfer fee,
he was top scorer when he left Stevenage for Burton, and top scorer in both their promotion seasons he has played As a Striker or forward, and for someone covering full back, To be Burton Albions record goal scorer is some feat.
Giving the last 6 players this window are on 2 year contracts, with a club their size some thing Clough would not do, leaves concern at Burton , where we are o-k and putting in a dig about Clough liking players with bad knee injury
leaves me to believe you are just fishing., Stating paying a fee for a 32 year old is risky, then stating, a substantial fee would have to be involved and the chances are slim
says it all, he is a good player

Yeah of course I'm fishing. I've only see Lucas play around 250 games of his 300+ for the Brewers, with 99% of them being on the right wing...

We've had fans asking us on our forums & facebook pages about Lucas, so I thought I'd put the record straight on him, rather than the silly stuff thats been flying around.

By the way in Lucas' last season at Stevenage before he joined Burton for £20,000 he scored 5 goals, only 11 goals behind their top scorer, and striker Francois Zoko...

On another note, as for ex-players of ours, I'd be taking a look at Reece Hutchinson if you need a left back? We've released him and he's still only very young, he's very much worth a punt.

Not seen much in the media ref our link with him unless i’ve missed it, looks just the kind of player Cloughie would go for, apparently they have signed two replacements for him already.

fingers crossed he gets his man.

Has there been an interview with Cloughie this week ?

I know a team is more than the sum of its parts but we haven't made a 'wow' signing or a statement of intent to the rest of the league.

I don't think we will either now that Naylor used us as a bargaining tool.

We won't be signing wow players. Just not how he operates and in fairness it's got us nowhere the last few years.

A guy that potted 20 goals in this league last season not wow enough for you. We could always sign Maynard yet again if you want.
