FT 90 mins, Morecambe 0-0 Newport

Not the best second half, but Newport much the better side. Morecambe have not got going and have been hanging on.

Found this about Tom Naylor, I bet Morecambe wish he was in their side.

Naylor scored two own goals and conceded a penalty for Newport, in a 2–3 home defeat by Morecambe on 14 September 2013.[23] In the return fixture Naylor scored to put Newport 1–0 up only for him to score another own goal and then get sent off after conceding a penalty. Morecambe went on win 4–1.[24]

Morecambe to win on penalties, Maynard misses and still gets a contract like Naylor did.

One shot on target in over 100 minutes of football. Morecambe have been playing for penalties since the 46 th minute. If they win it won't be deserved.

Watched Morecambe play twice this season against us, both legs vs Tranmere as well as in the final today - every time they’ve looked incredibly conservative, no flair or creativity whatsoever, yet somehow they’re going up

I can taste Ellison’s salty tears. I hope the manager goes and waves his John Thomas in his face.

Congratulations to Morecambe, promoted to League One for the first time.

Morecambe deserved it over the season, but didn't deserve it today.

A game of two penalties, one not given for Newport which should have been, and one given for Morecambe which shouldn't have been. Newport were much the better side over the 120 minutes today.

Good luck in League One to Morecambe.

Unlucky you Welsh, don't enjoy your trek home, maybe you should have resorted to kicking the opposition ala your usual modus operandi, this may have acheived a more favourable result.

I agree it's the result that counts. I watched it as a neutral. I've no affinity to either side.No doubt in my mind Morecambe didn't deserve to win.

However, they did finish fourth in the league so I guess that is some justification.

Good luck to them.

I thought the penalty was given for the push rather than the trip. I’m not sure if it was in the area or not but the ref was in the best position to see.
