Michael Appleton is a very good manager. I was surprised he was out of a managers job so long after Oxford.

One of the keys to his success is that clubs in higher leagues trust him with their young players for loan deals. If you look a the some of the players he's had on loan since his Oxford days now playing at a higher level :

Carlton Morris, George Baldock, Kemar Roofe, Tyler Roberts.

Then this season he has had TJ Eyoma, Callum Morton, Morgan Rogers and Brennan Johnson who all look set for bigger things.

It's the same everytime we play them away, they're near on beheading the ref if a decision doesn't go their way.

Consistently seems to get them results at home . Something to consider when we get back in the ground .

Some of our fans seen to prefer getting on our own players backs though. Crowd can make a huge difference, mill should be rocking when we can get back in!

Morecambe are the last side out of the 3 I’d want to go up purely because I don’t expect them to be up there next season of Adams goes to Bradford.

They’ve been brilliant this season though.

How Morecambe are 2 up I don’t know must be 80/20 possession to Tranny, classic smash and grab stuff

FT, 1st leg Tranmere 1-2 Morecambe.

Advantage Morecambe who were very efficient and excellent defensively against plenty of Tranmere possession.

A Newport vs Morecambe final looks pretty likely

Otis Khan didn’t do much wrong for Tranmere ….didn’t have much influence on the game either

A great shithouse performance from Morecambe winning 2-1 away at Tranmere with two goals from set pieces whilst only having 25% possession. Gareth Ainsworth would have been proud of fellow Master of the Dark Arts, Derek Adams. It shows that you always have a chance if you are well organised at the back and can score goals from set pieces. Central midfielders, Toumani Diagouraga and Yan Sango'o just sat back in the 2nd half and closed the space down well. Ryan Cooney played well at right back and succeeded in winding up the Tranmere fans including David Moyes' son stood at the bottom of the stand. Morecambe missed John O'Sullivan in midfield.

Corey Blackett Taylor played well in the 1st half for Tranmere but Cooney closed him down well in the 2nd half. Tranmere's player of the season, Jay Spearing, also played well. Otis Khan played in a deeper left midfield position so the new manager seems to have dropped the idea of playing him right back/right wing back.

According to Sky Sports Stats, Morecambe have scored 15 goals from corners this season along with Carlisle United and Oldham have scored 13.

We actually conceded fewer goals than Morecambe this season.

It is a bit "what have the Romans ever done for us?"

Apart from those 16 times we've not scored from set pieces all season :D

I think the Sky Sports Stats were for just for corners Sam. Morecambe had scored 15 goals from corners.

After a decent first half from tranmere they were unlucky to be down at half time but they seemed very pedestrian in the second half against a massed defence and various delaying tactics. They played a lot of sideways passes but seemed unable to get the ball down the wings to get decent crosses in. Looks like Newport v Morecambe at Wembley

Everyone said Cheltenham were at Wembley after the first leg last season with a 2-0 win at Northampton and look how that turned out.

I know it's not L2 related but I've got Blackpool v Oxford on. No sign of CJ? Is he injured does anyone know?

he's been out much of the season with two different injuries. Currently a broken metatarsal

2nd leg of play off games have been great today so far. Brentford came back from 2-0 down on aggregate to win 3-2. Sunderland have pulled it back from 2-0 down to 2-2 on aggregate against Lincoln.
