I still have nightmares about that Tow Law game.

The original match was abandoned at half time with the score at 0-0 as it was being played in an absolute blizzard. The only thing that had kept me at the game was the sight of a Tow Law girl in her late teens who was stood within a couple of yards from me. She was wearing the smallest mini skirt I’d seen with knee length white boots and had the shapeliest legs you could dream about. They really must breed them hard as the snow was driving down onto her bare legs yet she never flinched and didn’t even seem to notice the cold.

I couldn’t make the replay but remember we were winning 1-0 with about 20 minutes to go. Now that was a side that just collapsed.
Hello! Hello! We are the North Stand Boys.

I enjoyed watching Terry play. I didn't realise he had a hard man reputation.
Regarding the embarrassing defeat, we did get our revenge.

He only played 35 games for us 33 league and two cup (including the 5-1 defeat at Tow Law where he scored). In total he scored eight goals including scoring on his debut in a 2-0 home win against Torquay.

Signed in November 1967 and left in September 1968.

The 67-68 season was a poor one where we finished fourth from bottom in third division, but was spared relegation because Peterborough had a 19 point deduction after the last game of the season for financial irregularities.

Perhaps that’s why Tommy Eggleston got rid of him only a month into our cup giant killing season.

Sad to learn Terry has left this world, I liked the bloke as a player and a character.

It looks like Terry Melling had a better season the following season in 68-69 with Rochdale

"Rochdale Football Club is saddened to learn of the passing of former player Terry Melling. The centre-forward played a key part in Dale's promotion winning team of 1968/69, scoring eight goals in 20 appearances. Our thoughts are with Terry's family and friends."

He dropped a division as he played for Rochdale in Division 4 whereas he played for us in Division 3.
