When I watched the documentary on Sky about Salford and they were originally thinking about getting rid of Morley and Johnston - the board at that time seemed very reticent to sack them and how it would look based on the success they'd had until that point. It came across that they didn't want to fall into the trap they perceived a lot of other clubs fell into of constantly changing their manager. Seems like that philosophy has changed, and it will be interesting to hear Gary Neville's take on Sky, the next time a Premiership manager loses their job after a short space of time....

Thats Neil at Preston. now Wellens at Salford only 6 points of the playoffs, with 11 games to play, squeaky bum time, yes i vote Gary Neville for the job he sounds very clever
Did well at Valencia in 3 months being in charge during the darkest time in the clubs history a cup semi-final defeat 7-0 to Barcelona, and being only 6 points off relegation, and to cap his success they went out of the Champions league, and UEFA Europa league, His time there will go down in history for all the wrong reasons, .

Neville is coming across as a bit of a megalomaniac

I didn’t realise that Gary Neville was the chairperson and the only person on the board at Salford?

I thought the guy from Singapore was the majority shareholder and called all the shots.

Wasn’t it the same guy who sacked Gary Neville when he was manager at Valencia.

from watching the recent documentary on Salford on Sky, it certainly appeared that Gary Neville was calling the shots, with the rest of the board including Phil Neville, Paul Scholes, Nicky Butt, Ryan Giggs, David Beckham

I think something must have happened behind the scenes. I know they got rid of Alexander after just a few games, but he had been there a decent length of time before that.

I saw a post match interview from the weekend where he seemed shocked at what the players were doing in the warm up, because he never went out to watch it. A lot of managers don’t, but they at least know the drills that are happening in the warm up.

yes I agree. They won at Wembley last weekend with Neville celebrating wildly. So it doesn't add up based on results alone.

Not sure the one day holders of the cup at Wembley holds too much significance.
It's fairly clear they expected automatic promotion this season with the outlay on players .
Wellens didn't look like achieving it . Not saying it's the right decision of course .

Sacking managers who don't achieve promotion within a season or two. Not Salford, us!

Hopefully we've learnt from having 4/5 managers in like what 3 or 4 years?

Richie Wellens had a decent record based on the stats quoted on the BBC website

P30 W12 D9 L9 (Win Rate: 40%)

Who is next at Salford? Chris Wilder? Alex Neil? Kenny Jackett? Roy Keane? Ryan Giggs? Ian Evatt?

I could see them going for Alex Neil, but I wonder if managers will be put off due to the recent sackings of Alexander and Wellens.

saying that, like Oldham's managers they'll just get a good pay out.

It's always the same names floating around on the odds.

Remember when Gary Caldwell was like 2/1 for the next manager for us?

To be fair he'd have done a better job than GC, in fact anyone would.
