He was brought down just inside their area. I realise how I wrote it was like he was well in their half.

Maximum is now down to 56 pts, we needed 13 pts to be mathematically safe before today, but now it is down to 11 pts.

Grimsby PPG now has them finishing on 40. If they don’t defy their season long form, they’re already down.

The most points Grimsby have taken from any 7 game spell this season is 11. That wouldn’t be enough to overtake us.

Do the bottom two have to play each other ?

No, Colchester have Southend to play though.

if anyone really thinks there's a chance of us going down, you can get 100/1 with Skybet. £10 bet would make a nice consolation and let you travel in style to Wealdstone next year lol

We've never been in any real danger of going down since NC came in. It's just typical pant-pissing on here by the usual suspects.

It usually goes

Lose - Were already relegated

Draw - We'll be fine

Win - Why aren't we promoted already?

I would love to be this relaxed about it but I just dont trust this team, We lose 4 and Southend win 4 then they over take us? Or am i missing something?

Just want to be as confident about it as you guys.

This lockdown raspberried my nerves up I reckon.

And there's Colchester, barrow and Walsall in between us.

Southend have at least shown they are capable of the sort of run needed to catch us up, unlike Grimsby.

But in our worst 6 game spell of the season, we still managed 3 points, so I’m confident we’ll at least get to 48pts, which would mean Southend need 14pts in 7 games. They would need to equal their best 7 game spell of the season.

Anything can happen in football, but all known logic says it would be an extraordinary turnaround, hence why two bookies have us at 100/1, and the others don’t even include us in the market.

Having said all that, I am having £10 on at 100/1 as compensation if I’m completely wrong

Just take a look at Grimsby's fixtures. They’re down!!! Can’t see Southend winning enough. Same for Colchester too.

To be fair to Grimsby you could have said that 8 games ago. To go that many games unbeaten has been an achievement, fortunately for us and others they have drawn too many, quite often from winning positions.

I think if Southend lose tonight they too are all but gone. Not sure why the bookies still have Oldham at 25/1 to be relegated being on 48 points already?

* William Hills *

Grimsby 1/14
Southend 1/14
Colchester 4/1
Walsall 16/1
Barrow 16/1
Oldham 25/1 ?
MANSFIELD 100/1
Scunthorpe 125/1

I think Grimsby are gone looking at their remaining fixtures, but there’s still life in Southend yet. If they hold on to win tonight then we’re not quite out the woods yet.
