Andy Cook and Danny Rowe. They are not going to run around closing down defenders for Bradford but they can both strike a ball.

I assume Lee Novak is going to be out for the rest of the season with his knee injury.

How old is Cook?

I don’t think Cook has ever properly settled. We definitely will never see him in a Stags shirt again.

In agreement with my pal whiffy here. There are better players out there and we need better to progress. He's not looked happy from day one. He's scored one or two yes, but something must convince Nige he's not right for us as a starter and results being on the up since Nige arrived back that up.

I like Cook, seems a threat while on the pitch but his fitness for a pro footballer just isn’t good enough, can’t see him ever being properly match fit which is unfortunate as if he was he’d no doubt be a L1 no9 somewhere

Best of luck Cooky.
Never really secured a starting place despite being better than those selected in the Coughlan/Dempster era.
He will still score goals at this level in the right team.

A wide striker/winger predominantly. A strong runner, but not particularly quick. Hard working.

Akins has operated on the right hand side mainly in recent years. I’ve seen him described as one of the most versatile players in the EFL. According to Transfer Markt, Clough played Akins on the right for more games than he did down the middle. He’s also played a fair amount at RB and LW according to that.

If we do sign akins, I can't wait for the 'square pegs in round holes' comments if he ever plays in more than one position

Managed by Clough for years, we could really do with another forward that can operate out wide, and interest reported by a Journalist who gets a hell of a lot right. It might not come to fruition but hardly a huge leap to think we’re after him.

Best of luck Cooky.
As others have mentioned, he played under 3 managers and never really secured a starting place despite looking better on many occasions that the ones he was replacing.
We never really saw him pair with Maynard (under dempster/Coughlan ) so hard to say if that would have worked.

1027 minutes on the pitch together over a full season (Aug-Feb last season, Sep-Feb this season). 10 starts together, 1 win.

If you say so?

Benning, can see him going if an offer comes forward, he's a good player on a speculative big wage, similar to Cook.

As for Clarke, at the time he was poor, gave the ball away far too much but recently he has been a star, my view point was, is he happy in the north without his mentor?

We will see at seasons end one way or another if not before?

Unless Akins moves, he'll be playing at FM next season either way.

You would think we have agreed a deal with someone for us to have let Cook go. Might be something announced today?

But at the moment it’s groundless speculation, whereas the speculation about Akins is not groundless.

Your comments about Clarke were 9 days ago, and he hasn’t played since, so it wasn’t at the time he was playing poorly. But nice try

It's not worked for Andy Cook here. No disrespect to him, he did his best.

He now has the chance to earn a contract at Bradford. NC has done well to get him out the building. So best for both parties.

We now have some wriggle room to enhance the squad. I've a feeling it won't be Atkins. He's probably needed at Burton.
