Maybe refs are under orders to make the call early to stop teams travelling unnecessarily.

The flip side would be Bolton travelling only to be turned around when they got here.
Facts do not cease to exist because they are ignored.

It's only 1hr 30 away though, surely could have done an inspection later than 12 when the kick off is at 7?

On most posts the playing surface has come into question and the ground staff have not been mentioned, sticking up for employees is impressive, but most fans question the effect and the club have to find the cause, im am sure Sharpe and Clough will do that.

Look Spiro, I am fed up of asking who is now to blame for everything going wrong? Unless you name this seasons fall guy I am going to go with Conrad.

So can anyone out there help Spiro and name this seasons Fall Guy?? I will even accept Colt Severs as the answer.

George Michael and Andrew Ridgeley are to blame for an 80s disaster.

Surely, bearing in mind the weather forecast, it would have been sensible to phone Bolton and tell them not to set off before a pitch inspection at 4?

Were you already travelling, Martin or were you already in the area today.

Exeter 0 Morecambe 1
Adam Phillips tripped by Exeter keeper, Jon Maxted, as he ran into the area to receive a pass from Diagouraga. He picked himself up and scored the penalty.

Has he played here since leaving?

As I said earlier in the thread Spartacus, t'is very much a case with some of 'shoot first and ask questions later' with some on here. Spouting off it's Mez's fault before they know the facts.

I think 1hr 30 is a bit ambitious for that journey, with Google maps suggesting the best part of 2 hours (1h 52mins) even at this time of night. Bearing in mind they are travelling in a coach so wise to add on an extra half an hour, and I wouldn't imagine they would want to get straight off the coach and onto the pitch so at least another half hour there, plus pre-match warm-up starts around half an hour before kick off.
We are now up to them needing to set off a minimum of 3 hours before kick off, but leaving at 4pm would mean them hitting rush hour traffic so they would need to add at least half an hour on for that, but bearing in mind how poor the motorway network is, probably safer to add an hour.
This means they would need to be leaving Bolton at 3pm. Some players may live a distance away from the club so would need to be leaving home at 2pm to catch a 3pm coach, so in reality the pitch inspection couldn't have been left much later if players were to avoid 'unnecessary travel' to their own club for a match that could be called off.

Mez confirms on facebook that the covers were on. And heaters.

Mez also added on twitter that he "wanted to give it a chance and check again at 3" but the referee called it.
