You have to go back to the early stages of the promotion season of 1991-92 when we achieved seven league wins on the trot, during this spell we also managed seven away wins on the trot too. This period included (if you are old enough to remember) memorable away performances v Halifax, Rochdale (smash and grab) and the famous Scunthorpe 4-1 win when Stanty climbed the away stand fencing.
Coxy nearly managed five on the trot late on in our first season back in the football league but a late Accrington equaliser (away game) quoshed that run.
First match : 04.01.1975 home v Cambridge Utd F.A.Cup 3rd Round 1-0 Clarke

I played cricket against Stanty a couple of years ago and we chatted about that moment at Scunny, I was about 10 yards from him, it was a great performance and a big moment in the season. I loved the old showground.

Was gonna say. Wasn't that some kind of league record? Club record?

It was Glanford Park when he was on the fence mate. I was right near him too.

It's a club record, see https://stagsnet.net/vintage/records/records01.html

It is the record in the Conference, jointly held with Burton (2008/09)

The record in England is 14, held by several clubs including Arsenal in 2002

No reason we can't win this, we shouldn't be fearing anyone in this league. I'm just hoping Bowery still in decent form after his pen miss and 9 days off. Self confessed "confidence players" can be fickle at times, remember Greeny in his second spell?

2-0 to us. We can beat anyone in the league and realistically looking at the league table we should be winning these types of games but they'll be fighting for their life. They weren't pushovers the first time.

Lapslie and Bowery with the goals

i do feel we are running away with ourselves yes we have done well and moved away from the danger zone, confidence is great but caution is vital most teams have a good run but 46 games is a long slog and so much can change,, expectations can soon be shattered and moving forward with a 4 game plan keeps perspective and feet on the ground.
our goal is league status, anything more is jumping the gun and the good results are there to enjoy, but we must stay focused and not get carried away.
After a good spell losing at home on tues, the last thing Southend will want is another home defeat on sat.
7 points from the top 7 and 8 points of relegation feet still need to be on the ground.

I think we’ll beat them.

Nine days rest, a quality addition to cover in midfield if Clarke is out, Lapslie buzzing from his transfer.

Can’t wait!

https://www.whoscored.com/Referees/3468 ... en-Speedie some stats there on his games for the stat crew.

He also officiated Clough's first home game, a 1-1 draw with Colchester https://www.stagsnet.net/match/reports/ ... tchid=1064 MArtin rated him a 7. Saying "Generally handled the game well, despite missing a couple of obvious fouls and missing that Benning’s shot was deflected for a corner in the first half."

Worries me they have a long throw, we didn't cope well with Cheltenham's in the cup so they will look to exploit that.

Hopefully we have learnt our lesson and can nick an ugly away win.

I thought we dealt with them alright in both games against Cheltenham.

Problem is, when you face 35 of them a game, you're bound to be troubled by a couple of them.
