David Sharpe was pretty clear that we were not going to do so in his interview in December. https://stagsnet.net/news/newsdetails.php?newsid=9969

The best bit of business we have done for many a year. And to think people say the Radfords aren't interested anymore! Well done to all concerned in making this happen.

This is one of only about five times in our whole history that news was universally loved, along with Clough joining, Sharpe joining, and them putting another bar outside they sandy pate

A fantastic signing, he really has been a breath of fresh air since coming to the club with some outstanding performances. He's the sort of player fans love, has that bit of quality but really, really works his nuts off! Well done all involved, wonderful news.

Charlton have also agreed a sell-on in the transfer.

To be fair to him, he also brought Maris and Clarke who have both been great in the last couple of months.

Charsley has been good too, adding plenty of goals and Perch has brought plenty of calmness and solidity to the defence

He also brought Bowery and Rawson who now look like good players after a shaky start.

The jury is out on the rest of his signings IMO

Really happy Lapslie has signed for us, he is a great prospect who I have no doubt will lead us onto promotion in the not too distant future.
It is a great time to be a Stags fan and I am so looking forward to the rest of the season under Nigel, who knows where he will take us.
Mansfield Town, my club even though been exiled in London since 1983.

Disagree, he did sign some other good players in Maris, Clarke, Perch, Charsley? or was he a Dempster signing?

Charsley was a GC signing. Signed a year ago yesterday. The club put a tweet out about it.

Usually when we have a loan signing who does well we are unable to keep him. So well done JR and Nigel.

That was my feeling too. I did wonder if after every great performance he would use us as a stepping stone onto another bigger club.

Absolutely over the moon he has signed. One of our best loan players since Mike Carter from Bolton if you are old enough to remember him.

This is a fantastic signing who may also encourage other great players to join when they see what a great team Nigel is building here.

Brilliant just brilliant. We are winning football matches for the first time in ages and we get a proven quality new player.

The frustration is we can't go to home and away to get behind the lads in person but there is a pent up demand now building for when we do get back to normal and personally I can't wait.

It's a 2.5 year contract too. He's our player until the end of 22/23 season.

George and JR took my advice

"George Lapslie also had a good game and scored his 5th league goal for the Stags (6 including the FA Cup). The biggest thing for a young player is to have a manager who believes in you and who will play you on a regular basis. You are only going to get better and improve by playing games. If you start to do well then you will quickly catch the eye of teams further up the pyramid. Football is a short career so you need to make the most of it. George Lapslie is 23 and has spent 4.5 years at Charlton and started 16 league games. He's been at the Stags less than 3 months and started the same amount of games and he's been getting his photo in the national newspapers on a regular basis thanks to Dan. George Lapslie should be grabbing a pen off Nigel Clough and saying "Where do I sign Gaffer?" JR should offer Charlton a decent sell on fee to make Charlton happy for George to come to Field Mill and give his agent free car insurance."

Stags legend in the making, along with Nigel Clough. Played in his favoured position he seems to have no weaknesses, and has the knack of making every pass count. Not to mention the goals and the defensive work. One of the best signings for years.
