Got a bad feeling about this weatherwise. But if it's on a home WIN PLEASE.

Theirs but to do and die

Port Vale are on a poor run of form and three of their best players this season are unavailable, David Worrall, Christian Montano and Tom Conlan. Scott Brown is a good keeper. We need to watch out for centre halfs, Leon Legge and Nathan Smith, at set pieces which we know all about from previous games. Nathan Smith played at right back last night against Bradford City so he would be a good player for Jordan Bowery and Mal Benning to attack on the flank.

stokesentinel.co.uk, By Michael Baggaley, 31 DEC 2020
John Askey has revealed another of his Port Vale squad has tested positive for Covid-19.
Vale aren’t revealing the identity of the player at this stage but are testing two players who were closest to the player.
Midfielder Tom Conlon is also currently isolating after a positive test and has sat out the last two games.
Askey said: “A player has come down with Covid overnight. That is the situation.”
He added: “The player in question is not available now for 14 days. The main thing is he doesn’t feel too ill.
“We have tested two lads who were sitting close to the player. We will get the results back some time today or tomorrow. Hopefully they will come back negative and then on (January) 5, the whole of football is being tested for Covid.
“You can see when everyone gets tested there are going to be a lot of games called off. It is what it is. We are just getting on with it and see what happens.”
The possibility of a national football break has been discussed in the media because of the number of players testing positive.
The rest of the squad have trained as normal today but Askey said players are concerned. He explained: “The main thing is safety. The worry the players have is...we have players who are at that age where they have young families, maybe have babies, and then their parents.
“The worry is not for themselves, it is for their families and the affect it has on them mentally.
“Like today, we have come in and we know a player we have been in close proximity with has got Covid.
“He has been with us for the last couple of days. So, you all start to worry then that you might pick it up. But until they say something is going to be done, you have to get on with it.”

Accuweather app has no snow until 11am Sunday.

Just checked Sky Weather, no snow but rain, dry tomorrow, 3 degrees and 1 degree tonight.
I think the only problem will be getting rid of the surface water after today's rain, especially in the troubles area in front of the IG.

I’ve checked the BBC weather app on two different devices so in theory it should be the same forecast as it’s the same app. However one device shows snow tomorrow and the other shows light rain. They obviously can’t both be correct and the situation shows how unreliable the system must be.
Hope it’s light rain.

Covid 19 is bad and games being called off is accepted, we live in difficult times, and peoples health are paramount, but bringing the pitch into the mix is a statement of were we are.
Looks like having to give Port Vale a miss , i take it just up the road Sheff wed v derby will beat the weather and on sky.
Hope all is well for tomorrow .

My weather app says clouds with intermittent sunshine. No precipitation. 1 degree though.
Hope it's on and if it is we should hopefully win.
You've got to go there and come back, to know where you've been.

We couldn’t ask for a better fixture to break our winless run at home. Since Clough took over, Vale have the worst points per game of any team in L2 (0.55).
Had the league started on the day Clough took over, we’d be in 13th place on points per game, level on points, goal difference and goals scored with league leaders Newport.

and on XG we'd be in the championship by now, that how its works?
not bad that since Clough came in really, but were still well amongst the relegation race

Not sure on that, but even based on the whole season we’re above Vale in the xG table.
