Great result and performance.
I’m really pleased for Bowery. I have said a few times that he lacks a goal threat and I’m happy for him to keep proving me wrong!

Does that make Bowery one of the top scorers in all division this year

That, for me, was the most complete performance we have displayed this season. All parts of the pitch ,defence, midfield and attacked, functioned and worked together well. Passing was crisper, directed and to moving players, possession was retained, opposition players were tracked and not lost. We made our own luck today, exemplified by forcing Port Vale into the errors of a dismissal and two penalties.
Six or seven weeks ago that would have been a turgid draw which shows how far we have come and continue to travel.
Well done Stags, keep it up.

Port Vale & Bolton also seem to be faltering these past few games. Still way too early to know how things will pan out and who makes those key signings in the window. But (I think) these past 5 games have us with 9th best form in the league?
A couple more wins & draws in the next 5 games would probably ease us more into mid table..... hopefully
If i look in pain it's because i'm thinking

Great result and performance. Bowery brilliant but everybody did their job! Let’s hope we can really kick on now. Tough game but chance to go 15th with nobody else playing.

I think Maris has been great today, good movement and passing. Also won the ball back a few times
Spot on.
He was brilliant.
I think sometimes I under estimate his work rate and how often he breaks down attacks, that was probably the best I've seen him play and certainly had a direct influence on how good the other 3 looked.

Perch definitely gave them more confidence in defence rather than Gordon continually being caught out. Then a sound basis for going forward

To the guy on here who called Bowery the Cone. Nice response JB. Keep it going.

He just plays everything so simple he never gives the ball away, if nothing is on forward he just plays 2-3 yard passes and retains the ball

Me
If a fan is going to dish it out they need to do what any proper fan does and congratulate them when they do well (which is well, what we all want really!).
Like most under coughlan he was useless (seemingly more so than others though) but under clough has blossomed - again like quite a few of those - the finish for the hat trick was excellent.
The fact the midfield turned up and had probably its best day this season helped no end also.
Onwards

James Perch is different class, so simple and effective, he reads the game brilliantly, all through the team there were excellent performances, and even the subs looked good, still need better delivery particularly from the right flank, but we are moving in the right direction, even the ref had a good game !!

Even under GC he was a workhorse and worth his place. Now he is scoring goals he should be the first name on the team sheet.
Well done Jordan.

Still only 11 points of a play off I think. Been like that for a while. If we can get on a run, we can move up the table.

lifestags wrote:Right back is where most of our goals have come from this season, he’s picked Perch who might do a job but hasn’t got any pace to get half a yard for a cross in, over O Keefe who is more like for like to Gordon. He’s got to be on his way surely?
James Perch played well Dan and he was involved in the build up for the 3rd and 4th goals. He got beat by Hurst and Montano a couple of times but Mal Benning and George Maris came to the rescue.
Correction: He was involved in the build up for the 1st, 3rd and 4th goals as he took the throw in to George Lapslie for the first goal. It was a great throw!
