Can remember starting season quite well and Clarke tried that worldie when 2-0 up ,then drew 2-2 GC making it clear he was not happy in post match interview.

Last match Non-stech making a mistake and NC letting it known he was not happy in is post match interview.

Don't know if it effects the players and the team with the manager being so open in there post match interviews :?:

Which interview was that mate? Have you got a link as I must have missed it.

If I recall correctly Nigel just said "a mis-judgement cost us three points" ... which was not an unreasonable thing to say in the context of the interview. The fact that Nigel still keeps selecting Stech is far more important to maintaining the keeper's confidence.

The post quoted makes it sound like NC hung Stech out to dry but that’s not the case

that's what I thought I'd heard and certainly nothing like a public dressing down, but maybe there's another interview out there?

I actually thought he was quite tame in his response.

All Nigel did was say he made a mistake, which he did. Klopp, Pep and Jose do exactly the same!!! Why do people feel that Clough hung him out to dry? I don’t get it.

No more a dressing down than saying the forwards need to be more ruthless in the final third. Neither comment was controversial.
Facts do not cease to exist because they are ignored.

He was more controversial today replacing Stech in the 119th minute.

Somebody said it must have been pre planned judging by Stechs body language but I didn't see.

The change helped win the game though!

Apparently they'd practised penalties in training and Adam was better at saving them.

Makes sense to make the change under those circumstances and would/could have messed with the Dagenham players minds had it gone that far.

Yeah Clough said stone was better at saving them in training. Makes sense to me when it looked like we were headed for penos.

That's correct you take what advantage you can. Small margins and all that. Now who used to say that ? :)

Hardly controversial when it was pre planned and agreed before the game... If one of your keepers is better at saving pens then bring him on for it.

Would agree if he just dragged him off without a word but definitely doesn't seem that way.

Yep I think it makes total sense and something I love to see your manager do.
You could hear the Dagenham manager telling his players to keep the ball in play and asking the ref how long was left, before Sweeney headed the ball out to allow the substitution.

Stone could well have been better at Penalties during practice who knows, but if it had gone to them you can guarantee their players would having been thinking we had made the change for a reason and they were facing a keeper who was a specialist or at least had a knack at saving penalties
;)
