I've watched the highlights of most of the Forest Green matches and watched the whole game against Grimsby Town when they won 1-0. They played well first half with Nicky Cadden putting in some good crosses from the left early on. He has looked dangerous in the games I've seen and is their top rated player on whoscored. Grimsby actually played well against FGR and dominated possession with 66% possession. Not many teams do that against FGR. Grimsby could not create anything though. Odin Bailey (on loan from Birmingham City) should have put FGR 2-0 up when he was clean through but James McKeown saved his shot and Bailey put the rebound over the bar. Ian Holloway accused FGR after the game of deliberately hiding the spare balls to waste time and slow down play.
The back three of Liam Kitching, Chris Stokes and Jordan Moore-Taylor are very comfortable on the ball and Liam Kitching pushes up well to help create chances and goals. He played the ball through to Jake Young against Grimsby to score the goal. He was also involved in the build up for one of the goals against against Scunthorpe away. This is what we need our back three to do when we play a back three.
Carl Winchester and Ebou Adams are very good in midfield although Adams has not caught my eye as much as he did last season.
Jamille Matt has been a good signing as a big strong target man and has scored five goals. Jake Young, a young lad signed from Sheffield United, has also done well and scored three goals.
Dan Sweeney is a big strong lad in midfield who was signed from Barnet and who is Ryan Sweeney's older brother.
I do quite like Mark Cooper as a manager because he tries to play football the right way and he is completely bonkers. He would fall out with himself in a telephone box.
