These cases are per week, so only 22 cases per day in MK.

it's not so much the cases per day that effects tiers, hospital capacity is more important.
10 cases per day in the over 50s is a lot worse than 60 per day in the under 40s.
University and school outbreaks have a large impact on cases per day.

All over 50s should be taken to an island in Hawaii for the winter, all inclusive of course. :)
Then all the pubs etc.. Can open and herd immunity can take over.

Pete your source is wrong 114 cases last weekend, then at least 60 a day all this week.

Go to MK Citizen site they report daily cases

Universities are mass testing at the moment for the Xmas break, so expect cases to increase.
They really should put hospital admissions instead of positive tests, it would give a fairer severity of outbreaks.

The problem is that The One is quoting actual case numbers, whereas Pete is talking cases per 100,000 people.
In the week to 30 Nov there were 413 cases in MK, which equates to 153 per 100,000.
Mansfield had a total of 159 cases in the same week, equivalent to 145 per 100,000.

However, the tier system isn't just based on case numbers but also includes other factors such as number of cases in over-60s, rates at which the case numbers are rising or falling, proportion of positive test results, and pressures on the NHS. Therefore, you can't just say "they have more cases than us so that's not fair".
Also, the majority of the tier decisions were taken on a countywide basis so it is the comparison of Nottinghamshire to Buckinghamshire that matters, not the individual towns or districts.

No matter where they draw the line on granularity, there’s always going to be examples that look unfair. Look at Langwith. The county border literally cuts the village in half. The Gate is in Derbyshire and the Jug in Notts. They’re about 800 yards apart. One could be allowed to open and one not.

They are, however it's voluntary not compulsory whether to have a test. They are saying today the type of test being used is only 50%effective. So I'm not sure the stats will give an accurate picture.

Lots of fans at games today shown not wearing masks, they are just asking for fans to be banned again, it's not hard is it?

I noted only one in the crowd at the Arsenal game but if you’ve seen more then I’ll accept that.

At least 4 at the Chelsea game tonight, shown close up on TV. It's just common sense, wear a mask at games and don't hold a Christmas market! They've even cancelled the traditional Christmas markets in Germany, though I believe some cities have held drive though ones

German Christmas Markets were always a highlight of my time there. They’re great. Proper old school Christmas. I went back over to Mönchengladbach last year and had a great weekend. The pics from Notts today are insane. The vaccine is round the corner. Calm your tits for one year because if you don’t, there’s every chance that some of the people you usually spend the time with won’t be here next year.

Indeed, we went to loads if markets, insanely busy but worth it for the currywurst and gluwein. Our favourite was Monchau, but Duss was great too. Lincoln cancelled it's market, I am surprised Nottingham didn't do the same. Sadly, as you say, the longer folk flout the regulations and laws, the longer we're stuck in these sort of restrictions.

In all seriousness though, holding the Christmas market this year was bonkers.

On the other hand if Nottingham city council was .. I doubt they'd have done anything different, but the city might have been in Tier 2.
