This is a game, in a competition which starkly showcases the way the monied teams have raised the drawbridge on football for their own ends.

One generation on from Peacock scoring two goals to humble Man City we are fielding a strong side in essence to give their young players a development game.

£10 to watch a game on tv when last season you could be there and watch for the same amount? The bean counters would be proud of that tactic, irrespective of COVID.

I want us to play well, I want us to win and I want us to be spurred on for Saturday but every passing game in this Competition Is just a layer of dust on the memories of a completion that gave us some of our greatest days in history. Shame really.
