Non League games

Postby Old timer » Wed Aug 19, 2020 6:19 pm

I heard today that Tier 7 and below can get crowds in again providing social distancing measure are complied with. If we can't get to FM then who is considering trips to places like AFC Mansfield or Rainworth to fill that void? I would certainly consider it.

Based on the tweet below, if Stags had a pre-season friendly away at a step 3 side (Matlock, Gainsborough, Hednesford etc) fans would be able to attend ;)

Champions 1974-75, 1976-77, 2012-13

Freight Rover Trophy Winners 1986-87

Games before 30 Aug

Maximum attendance at Step 5 and 6 (AFC Mansfield, Rainworth) is only 150
Step 4 is only 200
Step 3 is only 300.

Yes they do. They used to be Ravo - they now play out of the Kings Arms on a Sunday. They're called 'King George V FC'.

That's a curious way to do it - it would have made sense to have done so on the capacity of the ground.

Having a mate who follows Nantwich in the NPL I will go to a few of those - but their ground capacity is 2,500 - even 25% of that is 625 which is over double the 300 allowed.

Reminds me of pre lockdown when (I think it was) France banned gatherings of 200 or more. 199 good, 200 bad.
What happens when 3,000 people turn up to a ground that can only hold 400, for example? Open it all back up, experiments over.

It is due to ground grading and minimum stadium capacities at each step.

Everyone has their own opinion, and each to their own on this one, but I think with the right measures in place fans should be phased back in to grounds at all levels from the start of the season.

Maybe wear a mask on entry/in the concourse for the time being (can remove when in seat), and seats socially distanced as is being implemented etc. Risk of transmission will be lower sat in my seat at Field Mill outside than it is at my place of work in a busy office or most pubs on a Saturday for example.

Real shame we can’t be there from day one.

I’d wear a mask throughout the game if I had to. I appreciate that won’t be the case and would be hard to enforce. Again that would be a matter that would be hard to find a consensus on also.
