Resumption Date of League Two league games?

Postby part time pete » Tue May 19, 2020 12:23 pm

A lot of folk are talking of new signings and building a team.

I think this is a bit premature.

Until crowds are allowed to attend games there will be no League Two games.

Clubs can’t afford it.

When will games start.

I think there will be no chance of an August start date.
Those accustomed to privilege may feel that equality is oppression.

People are so bored of lockdown etc. that discussing players instead of off the field issues provides a bit of escapism. I’m sure everyone is aware of the reality.

If you’re talking about fans being allowed into grounds I bet you’ll be looking at the turn of the year sadly.

Then many clubs would have to fold.
We also wouldn't be able to afford regular tests on the entire squad.

we are impatient and bored .I think changes will be no more than two weeks apart providing the rate drops

Some kids back at school for 2 weeks 2 weeks

all kids back to school 2 weeks later 4 weeks

healthy under 35's back to work 6 weeks

all healthy workers back 8 weeks

pubs hospitality open with restrictions 10 weeks Roughly start of August

middle of august public outcry for returning to normal pubs and socialising

1st saturday of september stags will be away at Newport

League 1 have voted for promotion AND relegation. It’s gone to the EFL for ratification. Given that league 2 voted for promotion but not relegation it would make sense for them to vote to have relegation across the board (the rationale being that premiership clubs could vote not to have relegation from their competition of the EFL doesn’t have it from theirs) meaning there probably will be relegation from league 2 meaning Stevenage do go down

Just hoping and praying they got the answer to sort this out.

I have had my own health problem come along this last 3-4 months and trying to sort it out.
Gets me down but hopefully it can get sorted soon.
Be great to see a game by the new year with all my staggie family x

Derbyshire times reckon sheep botheres will start new season with crowds in September.if that’s true ,and I must be honest ,I have not read the article then league 2 will surely start at the same time or just after.

Can’t say it’s a reliable source but a few on the football forum reckon there has been basic talks about 50px capacity at the start of September.

How it would be policed etc is a different matter.

As said, can’t state it’s got legs but would be good if it were true

That would suit us down to the ground.

Hopefully there’s no rise in the next week after these protests. If numbers continue to keep dropping even after mass gatherings like that then it will help in getting us back to a bit of normality. I wouldn’t rule out fans being in attendance at a reduced capacity for a new season starting at the end of September.

Somebody will likely think the exact opposite, but we can hope.

Just continuing the train of thought, would it mean that away fans be banned, only season ticket holders allowed, stewards marshalling toilets , given that kind of scenario could a League 2 club survive financially?

I think they’d want to keep away fans from attending to stop the spread I guess?

People packing Primark, calls for the 2 metre rule to be halved and hospitality to open .Germans on my sunbed and its still the first half of June. By the middle of July the rules will be far more relaxed and the new normal life will be in full flow providing you wear a mask.Start of August and compulsory mask wearing will be removed .footballers start training mid July and outdoor sports events start in September .

Has to be the case that only home fans are allowed if capacity is reduced. To stop infiltration a scheme such as a bond payment would have to be introduced. Rules for the bond would mean breaking them you'd lose your money and conversely if you abide you'd get your money back when normality returns.
ST holders wouldn't be affected

So in effect if you attended just one game at t'Mill all season (say Grimsby) it'd probably mean you're a Codhead. Minimum attendance would be set at 5 games meaning you'd have to pay over 100 quid plus the bond to see your team play away at that particular ground... X 23 games would be a lot of money. Can't see any other way round it mesen until normality returns

I work in Worksop and there are supporters of both Sheffield clubs , Rotherham, Donny ,Mansfield ,Lincoln, Worksop and for some unknown reason Cambridge in my workplace. If they all attended home games only then I reckon they offer the same threat to my wellbeing on a daily basis as a group of away supporters isolated in the north stand once a fortnight.

What do I do if I come from manchester when we play Salford or Oldham then?

But yeah I agree it should be only home fans on that basis.

Can we not have home fans only at each game, but make streaming on IFollow available to away fans only? Surely this would also reduce the costs of stewarding and policing drastically for all clubs.

I agree with home fans only, you could have a 'club pass' system whereby you can only get a pass for 1 league club to buy tickets for their games, it could even be linked to the iFollow system.

On the basis of that, anyone who’s had a season ticket or on the clubs records should suffice.

STH’s first then SSA members etc should be enough to prove you’re a stags fan (unless you’ve gone to extraordinarily long and daft lengths as an away fan  )

Just wondering how crowds would be monitored.
Even if restricted to 50% capacity what happens when people insist on sitting in on their regular seats even though they are next to complete strangers. Hiw could an social distancing be applied?

if you are wary of away fans then it makes more sense to have tickets for away fans issued by the official supporter clubs on the day of travel providing they use club transport . in other words if you travel with the stags your ticket will be available when you board the SSA coach. Coach travels to ground and you are escorted into the ground , straight on to the coach after the game . no contact with locals except for staff and security of the club. Away fans at the Wonk would be dropped off behind the North stand and not come within 50 Metres of anyone entering the ground via quarry lane . Not suitable for people who like a drink , but the discussion is not about that . If you wanted to watch your club then you could do , not such a good day out as previous but you could watch your club .

Still struggling to understand the home fans only logic though . Live will have to be back to some kind of normality to consider ANY crowds . Surely every supporter of every clubs speaks to a supporter of another club between games .Workmates , family bloke next door , why are they more of a risk if they support a different club ?
