How much money have they thrown at it trying to get out of league one? Must be a lot!

Then again I could say the same about us, but with league two

Don’t see the point in having the play off final at Wembley when they will be played behind closed doors. Surely playing a a smaller neutral ground would make more sense

NorthLondonStag wrote:Spartacus, that’s not how the proposed system works. It’s got nothing to do with the team’s own form over the last three seasons. The BBC report is misleading but the link I posted above explains how it works.

What the system is designed to do is to take all the teams that are in the promotion or relegation positions and then apply an adjustment. The ‘last three seasons’ point comes in because it looks at a statistical analysis of how much the teams position now could reasonably be expected to change by the end of the season.

It’s nothing to do with a given team’s last three seasons, whether they performed well or badly.

After all that lecturing about how I didn’t understand the system the EFL ignore it any way.
Well North London Stag that 5 minutes of our lives we will never get back.

Oh, and Tranmere got relegated after all. I bet they will be sending their statistics guru’s to night school over the mid season break.

Bazza's not happy (Barry Fry):

"The EFL have been a disgrace throughout this process. Just last week they arranged for four clubs they knew were going to be in the play-offs to be tested for coronavirus. They did this before today’s vote and those clubs had returned to training before today’s vote. How on earth can that be right? What on earth was the point of today’s vote when the EFL knew what the result would be?

The whole thing has been a farce, They’ve not taken into account home form or the fixtures teams had left. They’ve promoted teams and put teams into the play-offs in a very dubious way. If this is what they wanted, why didn’t they just say so instead of letting it drag out unnecessarily? I’m astonished they have let this play out as they have. We’ve been cheated. I feel so sorry for the chairman, the board, the manager and especially the fans. We set our stall out to win promotion this season and we felt we still had a great chance to achieve it.”

Luke Prosser, Frank Nouble and Ryan Jackson have agreed to return and play for Col U in the play offs despite being released. Theo Robinson is also going to play for them. He is on loan from Southend United.

So 3 teams to be promoted and county are already in the playoff final?

I hope so - I'd like to see County back in the League and have a proper local derby and rivalry to look forward to, rather than the derby being Macclesfield or Northampton or somewhere. It's good for the club with revenue and it's better than going to places miles away.

no I don't think so. Either Stevenage or Macclesfield to be relegated. Barrow to be promoted. And if the play-offs can take place, the winner to be promoted.

Too soon. I'd like them to stay down at least 2 more years.

Sneag I actually agree with you. Marble we should make an entry on the calendar!!

In respect of County already being in the playoff final, I think they are in the semi finals along with the 2nd placed team. Places 4 to 7 play off for a one off match against teams 2 and 3 with the winners going into the final.

in the National League

I think this means that there might be play-offs for National League North and South after all.

for passing interest, see also this from York City https://www.yorkpress.co.uk/sport/18515 ... york-city/

What a waste of money any playoffs will be.
Just let Barnet come up and spend the rest of any money trying to keep football alive.

Football is the most important of the least important things at the moment.

Tranmere have commenced formal legal action over the decision to relegate them.

Pretty predictable really and far more likely to succeed than clubs suing for failure to promote.

The EFL may just as well give them a big chunk of compensation as it will probably be cheaper than the legal bill whichever way it goes. Only the lawyers will come out of this laughing.

Waste of time and money really, what else can the league do? It's the same in Scotland too as clubs have not voted to change the league format so Hearts have been relegated & are looking at suing to.

They can make all results null and void which is the fairest thing to do.

Tranmere will win in court and that will open the door for every other club who have been relegated under this system. The result won't come quick enough for clubs to be reinstated so a monetary settlement will be the only solution. If the EFL have any sense they will pay up and keep the legal costs down.
