They’ll all bring something to the table but would be a lot more comfortable personally if we replaced Maynard with somebody else who has a decent track record in the league (I know they come at a premium and they’re tough to get in).

With playing 2 up top we need at least 4 senior pro’s, with Knowles supporting that as the youth product. If Cook moves on we’ll have a decent budget to get another good forward in to fill that quota.

Looking forward to seeing Reid though, let’s hope he’s a gem. Seems to have his head screwed on unlike Ricky Miller so hopefully that stands him in good stead!

Jake Taylor would be a nice signing in midfield, was rated at Port Vale.

I think your right about rose, I also think that Reid will surprise a few and will be a quality recruit. I think he will be our top scorer next season and the main striker in the team

Let me think, who was fat and brought in a load of big money players ? That worked out well.

As I said at the time, I think Evans signings showed he'd been away from league two level for a while... signed a lot of good names but players you would have wanted two maybe three years earlier. They were all out of form and not in their prime when he signed them, but still on big money... Diamond, Mirfin, Mellis, MacDonald, Potter etc

But Evans had us chasing down the top 3. Those signings with him as manager worked.... its how they all impacted the club after he left for china.

The problem with Evans signings is that he was like a kid in a sweet shop. If somebody gave him money he just bought everything he could and had no plan for how they would fit together.
His whole career has been like this. When he finds the 'winning formula' amongst his massive squad, the rest of the players, often on big wages, just get frozen out. This creates disharmony in the squad, but as soon as injuries or suspensions come into play these 'outcasts' are then expected to come in and perform.
Read 'The Journeyman' by Ben Smith for an insight into what it is like to be both an insider and an outsider in an Evans squad. Very enlightening.

A great book. The fish and chips scenario is absolutely hilarious with Crawley.

Andy Cook will be a great striker to have as a Plan B and can come off the bench and score goals. He will not be happy in that position but he will be on a good financial deal by staying at the Stags.

I think we need another back up centre half if we are playing three at the back.

I think we also need another two more quality midfield players. Alex Woodyard would be ideal.

We also need a left sided midfield or attacking player to replace CJ and a back up left back or wing back for Mal Benning. The advantage and strength of CJ was that he could play in all those positions.

Hoping we have another new signing or two being held back to be released with the new away kit photoshoot launch...

Would not surprise me if we sign a CB to play yet, not be back up.

I saw gibbens recently he looked a lot older than the last time I saw him, bulked up a bit too.... probably still too slow.

Graham is signed isn't he? Usual case with our young prospects though, it will be u23 football then maybe a loan to Teversal or similar quality league.

I think Jimmy Spencer should go out on loan this season, he won't progress taking 88 minute penalties.

He's been banging the goals in for Farsley Celtic in the Northern Premier League and was Player of the Season. :)

Jokingly said to someone at the club to replace CJ next... simply reply of "we have done, sit tight"

Maris signed a couple weeks ago, just been waiting for Cambridge to fully ok everything. Imagine the same for this player or their waiting for the kit?
