We could do a lot worse then Nathan Thomas.

I think Thomas would be a okay signing, but ultimately he’s gunna get mardy and need moving on like he does with every club. Think we can get better.

Funny how stat facts can distort a players worth isn't it.

I don’t think CJ played more than 10% of his games at right or left wing back. The other positions were on either wing or as a striker, so it doesn’t distort things that much. Thomas has played in at least three different positions too.

EDIT - just checked, I make it about 16 games at wing backs, so about right.

Seems very low number to me but I don't follow stats as they distort ability and purpose. It seems that in a high number of games not only did CJ swap positions during the game but also sides of the pitch he was playing on. I don't know how that could be reflected in stats but I always thought that one of Thomas's major faults was that he offered zilch cover defensively and when he did come back he always seemed to mess it up. He has also played in teams that get more men forward than we seem to so his assists would probably be naturally higher for that reason alone. We haven't scored many goals from midfield for a number of seasons now and in my opinion the reason is our midfielders don't take the risk and get forward enough. CJ often had no one to pick out and chances were gone.

I just don't understand how anyone can rate Thomas over CJ not only as an out and out winger but also as an overall versatile team player.

It’s a man interesting debate. I don’t think Thomas is better, I think they’re pretty evenly matched overall. CJ is a far superior team player as you say, and more versatile, but I would say Thomas is far superior technically.

What CJ missed out by playing in multiple positions is probably akin to the time Thomas spent unsettled at clubs. Is he unsettled because he has a bad attitude, or does it bad attitude prevent him from settling. Who knows.

I'd have him back.

We saw glimpses of quality. He's not mr.consistent, but I think GC's style of play and hard work gives players like Thomas the platform to perform. The team works hard together which allows better players to shine.

Why oh why do we keep wanting ex players back ? Lets move on.

Because they might be good players?

He's a mardy raspberry with a big chip on his shoulder who'll never be anything more than average.

I’ve just said on the other thread that I’d try and get Cal Roberts from Notts. He’s ten times the player Thomas is and has got a better attitude too.

Or is there a more recent reference?

Not sure on the reliability of this guy but apparently a former journalist? It’s a new account so could easily be a dodgy one.

EDIT - having looked into this further think it’s definitely a fake account.

Short memory in some.

He dumped on us. No way should he wear the shirt again.

Need to complete any big wage signings before the EFL meeting and pay cap vote on Wednesday.

Would this not also seal the fate of where Maynard & Cook end up?

Probably, Maynard not likely to get bigger wages anywhere else and will end up staying or without a club

I think we should play him. Great goal scoring record and the goals he scored here whilst hardly playing were great, some out of nothing like away at Plymouth.

Most his goals were out the blue.

Bradford & Northampton both at home.

FGR away with a snap shot.

Somebody on Twatter said that 'Roberts to Stags was a done deal' last night after County lost.

I think they were just tweaking the danglers of some irate pies fans though ;)
