With how that club is being run they need someone more like Paul Daniels to work some magic there.

This is true, it's a raspberries show at Sunderland and has been for a while. Parkinson didn't seem like a good appointment at the time to me.

Some of their fans want Nigel Pearson

Jabo Ibehre is a striker who's played against us for about four or five different clubs, including Orient, Colchester, Carlisle and Cambridge.

It’s a subtle dig at Tippy’s original spelling Martin.

Just saw a news headline from a newspaper saying that lower league clubs can’t sign anyone next month and can only sign players upto to 20k until 2022

The way that I read that is that it is only the clubs who apply for the extra hardship loans who will be unable to sign those players. From that I would think that clubs who only claim the basic grant can still operate a normal transfer window and sign who they can afford.

This could actually be an advantage to us (assuming we don’t apply for the extra money) as presumably our squad can be improved next year.

makes sense that clubs in need of help don't go splashing cash on players they don't have.

It seems to be a double edged sword.

If you are skint and near the bottom your club will be hampered for the rest of this season and all next.

If a club is close to going under and need financial help, chucking that money on new players isn't sensible. It makes sense to me; give them a loan but it's to go on making sure the club doesn't go under

Relegation, particularly from the EFL into the National League comes at a big cost.

If clubs are hamstrung in improving their squads it will be almost impossible to avoid relegation.

Gates (when things are back to normal) will also suffer in a prolonged relegation battle.

You'd assume not when we hired a new DoF (now CEO), a whole new playing squad, sacked a bunch of staff and then hired a new manager and his staff during the pandemic.

Nor did I but it’s not unwelcome. He’s quite versatile if inconsistent and at least we know him. Players available in January probably won’t be much better and could cost us a fee. We aren’t going to trouble promotion this year so why waste money and disrupt the squad.

Exactly this. Also, if we do happen to sign someone better then it means we have more quality in depth than we do currently. No point getting rid of a player on the hopes we can get another

It’s going to be very difficult in January with the cap restrictions.

Sharpe and Nidge seem confident of signings, with us selling Rose unexpectedly I can see us having some wiggle room left. None of the summer signings would be on mega bucks, we paid a few fees but the squad is young so I'd imagine their salaries reflect that.
