I'm reading that Exeter had a 20% sell on clause. That's a huge £5,000,000+ pay day for a league two club.
At least they will get therebobbystagsfan wrote:Stoney wrote:Ollie Watkins has moved to Aston Villa from Brentford for 28 million quid, rising to 33.

And they'll still bottle the play offs

By nearly signing him do you mean Evans putting in a daft offer in at the last minute no way was he signing for us over Brentford

No, when we were in the conference I believe

So you’re saying we nearly signed Watkins when he was 15/16. We made a 350k bid for him in jan 2017 which was rejected 6 months later went for like 1+ mill

I now realise I’m getting him mixed up with Andre Gray

I don’t think you understand, any transfer money you receive increases your salary cap.
If they receive £5m, then their salary cap is £6.5m

I don't think it works like that unless ive missed some additional rules regarding the cap.

Sorry, it is only loan income that is added to the salary cap and not transfer income in League One and Two.
However in the championship, transfer income is taken into account in their FFP rules.

I was listening to Darragh MacAnthony's podcast. He discussed loan deals and said that higher league clubs will expect lower league clubs to pay part of the player's wages and also provide accommodation for the loan player. He said they will also try and charge a loan fee and include additional clauses such as paying a promotion bonus to the club and paying the loan player's wages for the couple of months at the end of the season. They may also charge a fee if the loan player does not play a certain number of league games. The player's agent will also want a fee for the loan deal. You also have to pay VAT as the club loaning the player out invoices the lower league club for the player's services.
He said that when they had Ben White on loan from Brighton from January 2019 to May 2019 it cost Peterborough over £100,000..... and he said Ben White and his agent and Brighton were fairly reasonable when negotiating the deal! Ben White made 14(1) league appearances for the Posh.
