Most of our chances are created by our centre forward playing on the left wing which means we are relying on the midfield to convert them.
That's my point really, our main strikers rarely get more than half chances.
Let’s us just leave it to Clough and Clough and then give the new players time to settle . I would imagine that all us excellent armchair managers would have signed Maynard and Cook . I certainly cannot remember any negative posts when they signed . It is only hindsight that forms many posters opinion.
Not sure Alan Shearer in his prime would score many if he were in our side, the fault doesn't lie with either of our main strikers but with the calibre of the chances made.
We are too light wright in midfield and carry no threat down the flanks unless our full backs provide it thus leaving us open to a quick counter attack.
So what do we need IMO.
1) A dependable centre back.
2) Better central midfield to partner Clark/Lapslie.
3) Quick wide midfielder, we really do miss CJ for all his poor crossing.
4) A replacement for any striker that leaves.
Lapslie is OK but he is too light weight as the team currently lines up, if we sign Lapslie as a first choice central midfielder then Clark has to make room for him.
All my opinion, it's as good as anyone elses.
