No matter what people think of Evans, saying he failed at Stags is childish.
What did he achieve, apart from denting JR's wallet ?

The same as your mate did Andy, nothing.

Oh Dan you are a tease

Evans achieved the same with the Stags as Adam Murray and also worse than Paul Cox (League). He probably had the same budget as both of them combined!

For gods sake you sad raspberries, all of you. Let it go. It’s like arguing which Spice Girl had the thickest heeled trainers. It gone, it’s history and they aren’t coming back.

You are all a bunch of bald men arguing over a comb. Whoever wins this pointless argument what, what do you win?

The answer is nothing and always will be.

Who is arguing? I’m just discussing the post which said that Evans is under pressure at Gillingham

I know what would settle it once and for all. The win percentage table. Once that’s out the debate’s over.

He knew after we didn't beat cov that we weren't good enough and weren't going up so he left. He didn't want a failure on his CV and thought he had guaranteed success at posh.

Hes done with.

Whiteman'll be a big loss for Donny. How much, 3 - 4 million with a whacking sell on clause?

It would be good if one of the loan deals being pursued by Nigel could be someone of the quality of Ben Whiteman.

Maybe someone young who hasn't quite made it at a big Premier League club but has the pedigree and desire to succeed by another route.
It does happen, clearly.

I would say Lapslie has been as effective as Whiteman was for us. Not sure he will go on to be as good a player but he’s been very good.

Nigel has the knowledge, experience, contacts and pulling power, if a young player is available and wants to progress where would be a better choice than MTFC?

Calendar News at lunchtime said it was in the region of 1.5 million.

Doncaster fans complain that they are poor at negotiating contracts and transfer fees. A transfer fee of over £1.5 million for Ben Whiteman for their best player seems to be on the low side for me. They also allowed the likes of Tommy Rowe and Kieran Sadlier to run down their contracts and leave the club for free; and also released Max Watters at the end of last season.

Ben Whiteman was Steve Evans' best loan signing for the Stags with 23 league appearances and 7 goals in 2016-2017. (P23 W11 D6 L6)

Conrad signs for Stamford in Step 4.

"Stamford AFC from the Northern Premier South East division (Step 4) have signed Conrad Logan. He has most recently played 19 games for Anstey Nomads in the United Counties League Premier Division."

I liked Conrad. He's too good for Step 4. We had two good keepers under Steve Evans and David Flitcroft with Conrad and Bobby Olejnik. I put Conrad above Bobby because he played more games and we had a higher win rate when he played. I would certainly put Conrad Logan above Marek Stech based on performances for the Stags to date. He was also a much more accurate kicker from his hands. We lose possession nearly every time Stech kicks the ball.

Port Vale sign Kurtis Guthrie (27) who was released by mutual consent by Bradford City.

Wouldn’t be surprised if we had some interest in Theo Robinson on loan as I expect he will leave Port Vale off the back of this where it hasn’t really worked out. He did have 2 good spells at Swindon and Colchester prior to that though and spent 2 years with Clough at Derby years back where his goal return was pretty decent, albeit a fair while ago now. Would add a bit of pace and wouldn’t be high risk on a 6 month loan.
