Your best world 11

Postby arsene wengers coat » Sat Apr 18, 2020 8:04 pm

You might have received this on WhatsApp, but is certainly a good way to spend a couple of hours in lockdown.

You have to pick your best world 11 however;

You can only pick players who were playing during your lifetime
You can only pick 1 player from a single country, and
No two players can have played for the same club at any time.

Answers on a postcard please.
You've got to go there and come back, to know where you've been.

In order to make sure that you don’t fall foul of the one player per country rule and to keep your options open for later in the team, then the goalkeeper must be Lev Yashin of USSR.
Those accustomed to privilege may feel that equality is oppression.

Are you wanting us to put them on the Fred?

I’ve got one ready but do you want to start us off AWC?

Really tough with different teams and nationalities e.g. both Ronaldos would probably be in my all time 11 from my lifetime but as they’ve played for so many top clubs it really limits your selection pool of players.

Having re-read the rules they are both fails because it says the same club at any time, so back to the drawing board.

Ronaldo and Thuram both played for Juventus, its really tough with top players that have played for more than one great team, they cancel out so many other options.

Pele and Moore also played in the same team in escape to victory but I don’t think that counts somehow?

No world 11 would really be complete without Cristiano Ronaldo, but he takes out United, real and Juve so it's almost impossible to shoehorn him in.

Here's one I tried

GK - Thomas Ravelli Sweden
LB - Piszczek Poland
CB - Zanetti Italy
CB - Koulibaly Senegal
RB - Lizarazu France
RMF - Kevin de Bruyne Belgium
CM - Iniesta Spain
LMF - Gascoigne England
AMF - Zico Brazil
FWD - Van Basten Netherlands
FWD - C. Ronaldo Portugal

It's a tough little Game.
You've got to go there and come back, to know where you've been.

Well from my first two attempts I'm left with a double overlap with Thuram. So it looks like I need a new Right Back.

3rd attempt

GK- Cech - Czech Republic
RB- Arias - Columbia
CB- Moore - England
CB- Kompany - Belguim
LB- Maldini - Italy
RM- Lawrence - Rep. Ireland (got to have a bit of Stags)
CM- Bremner - Scotland
CM- Matthäus - Germany
LM- Ronaldo - Portugal
Fwd- Maradona - Argentina
Fwd- Pele - Brazil
