HT: Plymouth Argyle 3 Grimsby Town 0
A superb first half for Plymouth as a header from Tyreeq Bakinson and goals from Ryan Hardie and Luke Jephcott give them a very comfortable half time lead.
Grimsby were probably the better side for the first 20 minutes with Harry Clifton heading wide from a Matt Green cross and Matt Green shooting over from a tight angle where he could have tried a shot earlier when he first received the ball. Ryan Hardie hit the post for Plymouth.
Plymouth took the lead on 21 minutes when an excellent George Cooper cross was headed in by Tyreeq Bakinson (21) on loan from Bristol City. George Cooper is playing as a very attacking left wing back and it was his 11th assist of the season. Luke Jephcott had a goal disallowed before Tyreeq Bakinson played a superb pass from deep in defence on 30 minutes which split the Grimsby centre halfs, Luke Waterfall and Harry Davis, and allowed Ryan Hardie to run on to the ball and round James McKeown in the Grimsby goal before scoring his 6th goal of the season. His previous 5 goals have been scored as a substitute. Plymouth then took a short corner in the 40th minute which was cleared to Conor Grant on the edge of the area. He crossed to Niall Canavan to head across goal to Luke Jephcott at the far post and he scrambled the ball past James McKeown and Ryan Hardie followed up to make sure. It looked from the replays that Jephcott's shot had gone over the line before McKeown scooped the ball out.
