Sorry to say, there is nothing for sale in Mansfield worth investing in.
Any investment has to bring immediate income to offset the Tory Governments cuts (£7m plus Annually).
The money, borrowed from a government agency had limitations and could not be used for building or renovation etc

The Government have promised Mansfield a share of a ring fenced pot of money to improve our town providing the council can come up with a worthwhile masterplan. I'm not convinced creating "student accomodation" and having aspirations at becoming a "university town" are going to be taken seriously by any decision maker.

Why not become a "cathedral city" at the same time, it's laughable.

Mansfield missed the University boat 25-30 years ago. The university sector is shrinking.

If you look at where Lincoln was at the end of the 90s, away from the medieval part of the town, the town was a dump (parts of it still are) but upgrading their college to a university drove a tremendous amount of investment around the city centre & Brayford wharf.

Lincoln's transport links & infrastructure were every bit as bad, if not worse than Mansfield's.

When Lincoln Uni started they had major problems in attracting students, the town was such a dive. They city council there dud an excellent job in regenerating the city.

Our town centre won't improve until we get a couple of major employers based within it to improve footfall. Very few have a reason to go into the centre these days and that's the reason shops are dying.

If we are going down the university route, it should be based right in the town centre not at West Notts on the outskirts. That would revitalise the bars and cafes and maybe fill a few of those empty flats. I'm not convinced though and can't see us building a wharf entertainment centre in Titchfield Park.
