I have to disagree about the best pint, I was lucky enough to work for Mansfield Brewery for a few years and the Christmas parties were always in the cellar which had a direct line from the main tanks now that really was the best pint in Mansfield

Don't think I ever went back in once legal age .
Once old enough always found the Pink Coconut at Derby and 7th Heaven at Donny to be best for the ladies, although the Donny lads wernt always so obliging .

Bridge Tavern did a good pint back then :)

Very fond memories of The Bells. The "pass out" stamped on your hand when you left the upstairs room to get a drink as it was cheaper downstairs. Mansfield Bitter 1/7d. Mansfield Nut Brown 1/9d. The DJ's - Solomon and Syd Pepper. And afterwards up to that cafe on Clumber Street - I think it was called The Flamingo (?). My late old friend and ardent Stags fan Pete Passant having a week off work in an attempt to drink 100 pints in that week. Happy days.

:) Comments on here say so ,as a young one i was in that arcade a lot

My experience of Mansfield boozers is limited due to me joining the Army at 16 but if I ever ventured into town it would be for the Indy night in the Horse and Jockey on a Monday and the occasional visit to the sleazepit of a club upstairs on a Friday.

My on leave boozers were The Gate in Langwith and The Stute but also the Miner’s Welfare in Shirebrook. My mam drank in the Soldiers and that place In Langwith Junction near the King of Diamonds.

...as in artificial sweeteners instead of sugar? ;)

Visited my grandparents (eons ago) in Heath and as a boy used to go to the British Legion there with my Grandad and Dad and stand outside with my bottle of pop and packet of crisps and then play on the Williamthorpe pit slag tips and play footy amongst the doggy poo outside the British Legion with other kids supping their pop and eating their crisps with the one footy posts as I recall..

Ice cream vans came around the estate twice a day also....and a really hot deep bath courtesy of Grandads coal allowance....

Every now and again on my journeys up that way I re-visit Heath and see how small it is (as with Wagon Wheels (cousin Henry's favourite btw)) when as a young lad I visited my grandparents.

The Trent Bridge Inn (by NCC cricket ground) in the late 60's was where we under age 'lads' could get a pint of Double Diamond (I know... ) on a Friday night.......one was enough... we were tough Bridgford kids in those days :D

And don't forget when we played Sunderland and home supporters were pegged back by the Police whilst their supporters were let out first and then lobbed bricks from where is now the training pitches....

Ridiculous!

Glad we've moved on on the Policing front (sic)..

I remember one game when their fans left early. About 10 of us young kids were sat on the wall near The Bull pub on the corner of Station Street, when a group of 30 or so Chesterfield lads came past, asking where our big brothers were. One kid then pointed at an another group who appeared of Highfield Way, saying is that them. The Spireite group turned round and looked, just before the Mansfield group let out a roar and charged. The Chesterfield lot ran for their lives down under the railway bridges down Belvedere Street.

Climate change. Before it this winter would have been like 1978/79.

The ‘fan zone tent’ we were going to have in the car park at the side of the West Stand. Thanks to Sneag’s climate change theories it may be needed soon.

A vessel of such majesty would be unusual for a Stags Fan as normally we are, to quite those musical Tranmere Fans, Half Man Half Biscuit’,
