There are plenty of players at Basford and clubs similar that have been playing at very good levels previously. The standard is much higher than people think.

I always thought Jack had the potential to be a good player. He went off the rails but appears to be back to form.Still only young and he would be as good as our midfield at the moment. We may never know now but never say never.

He was never good enough for league football.

Everyone latched onto him because he is local. Means nothing in football whatsoever.

Good luck to the man though, hope he earns a good living from football for as long as he can.

Our academy hasnt produced enough quality since the golden generation

I think Tom Naylor is the last decent academy product we had?

I seem to remember him getting plenty of stick on here though

Despite being a big supporter of the youth system, I begin to wonder if circumstances will ever allow the lads to break through. Being a results game does make it difficult. Hoping Jimmy Knowles can break in before the season ends. If we do not try him we will never know if he is good enough.

He will get his chance.I think he can make it.Only time will tell.Lee Gregory was here and has made a good career for himself.Jimmy could do the same but we dont want a Lee Gregory situation .

Gregory left on loan to Halifax, who at the time were Conf North and he did well. Went permanent to Halifax the following season and bagged a shed load. Millwall took a punt on him and he's served them well. Got chance to prove himself at Halifax and played regular. At Stags he was under Holdsworth and the revolving door policy he had meant he was always looking for some one who's record was already proven.
